But as much as we all would love to have a glimpse of the pre-wedding and wedding functions of Deepika and Ranveer at Villa del Balbianello, Italy, the soon-to-be husband and wife want everyone to respect their privacy and hence implemented a no-phone rule at their wedding. Deepika and Ranveer’s engagement rumours floated on the internet in January 2018 at former’s birthday, but the lovebirds refuted such reports. Now, according to the reports, Deepika and Ranveer got officially engaged in a Konkani traditional Phool Muddi ceremony. In the Phool Muddi ceremony, bride and groom’s families meet and perform puja and offer prayers. Further the coconuts and turmeric powder are exchanged and the father of the bride washes the groom’s feet and formally welcomes him into the family.
So finally, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are officially engaged in a Konkani wedding ritual ceremony. As per the Konkani traditions, the couple sits down for a puja and is followed by the exchange of rings. After the engagement ceremony, Deepika and Ranveer’s mehendi and sangeet functions took place.
A source revealed to Pinkvilla, “The ambience at the event was electric. Ranveer Singh has enjoyed the most at the Mehendi ceremony. He danced his heart out while his lady love was busy getting the Mehendi done. Old songs were being played. First Shubha Mudgal performed, followed by Harshdeep Kaur. Romantic songs, ghazals and sufi songs were performed. Followed by a performance by Ranveer. He also danced on the beats of dhol.”
Aas per another source, “The security has been very strict and hence no photos of the bride and the groom have come out on social media. The phone cameras were sealed with stickers. Deepika’s family and Ranveer’s family too shook a leg with their kids. As we all know that love between Deepika and Ranveer blossomed during the shoot of their first film, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, but what we didn’t know yet as to how it all started. A crew member stated to Huffington Post about the beginning of Deepika and Ranveer’s love chronicle, “It was new love- euphoric and maddening.” The source further added that the couple was open about their relationship on the sets.
The source went on to say, “They'd call each other baby, eat together, and disappear into their vanity vans when not shooting.” The crew member revealed that Deepika and Ranveer thought that their romance would fizzle out once the film gets over, but they worked again with each other in Bajirao Mastani which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The crew member of the film told the publication, “When I saw them during Bajirao Mastani, that's when I knew, this is something that's going to last.” Another source said that even during group dinners the lovebirds would have eyes only for each other, “It's like nothing else matters. And they talk about everything non-stop, like, say, a married couple would.”
Setting the trend, Deepika and Ranveer have asked their guests to not shower them with gifts and make donations to Deepika’s NGO - The Live Love Laugh Foundation. As per Mid-Day reports, a source stated, "The bride and groom have requested the guests to not shower them with gifts. If they wish to give them anything, they've requested that donations be made to Deepika's foundation that actively works towards creating awareness and removing the stigma around depression. Both Ranveer and Deepika are deeply committed to the cause and want to involve all their guests in the good deed."
