It does not matter how you met your life partner, what matters is the love, respect and faith you have towards each other. When cupid strikes, you connect instantly to the one destined for you. From the moment Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh had shared screen space for the first time with the movie, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, all we wanted was the two to take their on-screen chemistry to their off-screen lives. The magic and the phenomenal chemistry that the two had portrayed, turned out to be true in their real lives too. Their on-screen comfort with each other made us believe that something was cooking between the two, but little did we knew that the two will pronounce themselves man and wife one day. On November 14-15, 2018, Deepika and Ranveer had taken their relationship to the next level with the sacred thread of marriage. They had gotten married in a Konkani and Punjabi-Sindhi rituals amidst the waters of Lake Como in Italy. The couple then went on to host three receptions in Bangalore and Mumbai for their family and friends from the glamour world. The couple is all set to celebrate their first wedding anniversary but before that let’s see how they celebrated their first Diwali post-marriage.

While we saw an array of stars gracing Diwali parties of the Bachchans, Ambanis and Anil Kapoors, we also noticed that Deepika and Ranveer did not make their appearance in any of these star-studded parties. According to a report of the Pinkvilla, a source close to the actors revealed that they had preferred an intimate get-together with their respective families for their first Diwali. The source also revealed, "Dippy and RS were with both their families ringing in the festivities. Both set of parents - the Bhavnanis and the Padukones, and their respective siblings were in Mumbai and they celebrated Diwali together. They had a rather quiet few days at home spending quality time with each other and hence decided to give all the Diwali dos a miss."

Deepika and Ranveer, who were expected by the paparazzi at the Diwali parties, were rather surprised when the two were nowhere to be seen. During an appearance on The Print's Off The Cuff, host Shekhar Gupta had asked Deepika about her Diwali plans and how was she planning to celebrate her first Diwali post-marriage. Deepika revealed that it will be an intimate affair between the two families. Deepika had also revealed that she and her husband, Ranveer rarely get any time with their families due to their work commitments and this Diwali will be celebrated with their families. Deepika had also stated that she and Ranveer won’t be working during Diwali time and won’t be socialising too. In an earlier interview with Harper’s Bazaar India, Deepika had spoken about her husband, Ranveer Singh and had stated, "A lot of what I’m able to achieve is because of him [Ranveer Singh]— in terms of how comfortable he’s been with my success, or how supportive he is. We’re a good team. We’re still so excited by each other, so inspired by each other. He’s my best friend."

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Deepika had revealed that she and Ranveer are not planning kids for the time being. Revealing that although they both love kids, they are not thinking about embracing parenthood at this point of their career. Deepika had stated, “It’s sad that society puts people in this rut that if you’re dating for so long toh shaadi kab hogi and then bacche. We’re not surprised by the rumours. Of course, we want children, we both love kids. But we’re too selfishly focused on our careers at this point. It wouldn’t be fair to have kids at this point.
