Jayati Bhatia, who became a household name with her role as 'Simar's' mother-in-law in Sasural Simar Ka, has recently spilt some unknown tea about the Indian film industry. The veteran actress has spent decades working in both television and Bollywood, impressing viewers with her natural acting. Not just that, Jayati also worked as an acting coach, preparing top actresses like Deepika Padukone for her role in Ramleela.

Recently, Jayati shared an eccentric behind-the-scenes incident from the movie's filming, which involved Deepika hurling abuses for a specific reason. Read to know about the incident which has got everyone talking.

Jayati Bhatia recalled Deepika Padukone hurling abuses at a bhelwala during Ramleela

In a recent chat with podcaster Siddharth Kannan, Jayati Bhatia opened up about her work experience as an acting coach and her lack of opportunities in Bollywood. She didn't hold back in pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of actresses she coaches, including Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Sharmin Sehgal. When she was asked about her time helping Deepika with the characterisation of 'Leela' from Ramleela, she recalled an eccentric Incident.

Jayati shared that Deepika initially thought her Ramleela role would be just like any other sophisticated and demure Bhansali female lead. However, later, when she knew that she would have to play a headstrong and feisty 'Leela', she had to practice abusing. As her acting coach, Jayati Bhatia's job was to help her "open up", and for that the veteran actress first had to coach herself to abuse and then help Deepika with it.

Jayati recalled how a famous bhelwala had his stall right outside Bhansali's place, and to practice abusing, Jayati playfully hurled the abuses at him. Following that, Deepika arrived, and she hurled at least 50 more abuses, which Jayati admitted to never having heard before in her life. She and Siddharth Kannan burst out laughing at this part of the story. The entire thing was done in jest, and it wasn't offensive to the bhelwala. Jayati stated:

"Wo ayi, usne darwaza khola. Uske bad usne gaali deni shuru ki aur jaha par maine khatam kiya tha uske bad aur bhi pachas di...Deepika ne...jo maine kabhi suni bhi nehi. [It was] spontaneous. Jo usne itne saalon mein apne friends ke sath apke shooting mein jo bhi usne, you know, suna hoga...and you know she just went for it."

Jayati was stunned at Deepika's behaviour, and she said "wow". The reason was that the veteran actress was impressed by how "fearless" Deepika was, who didn't care about anything or anybody while blurting out the abuses. Jayati said that by that time, Deepika had already made a name for herself, and it would be very natural if she had been image-conscious. However, she wasn't one, which Jayati realised when Deepika freely abused from Bhansali's balcony.

Deepika Padukone's current endeavours

Deepika Padukone is currently a hands-on mother to two-year-old Dua Padukone Singh, while also going through her second pregnancy. She recently posted an Instagram Story about doctors advising pregnant women not to lift anything that is more than 20 pounds. But the parody video showed a pregnant mother lifting her toddler, which seemed relatable to the 40-year-old actress.

Beyond her family life, Deepika is gearing up for her upcoming project King, starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The duo worked together in her debut Bollywood movie, Om Shanti Om and other projects like Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Jawaan and Pathaan. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see the duo together once again in King.
