Deepak Tijori clarified his statement on Amrita Singh stopping Saif Ali Khan from being part of his first film

Recently, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Deepak clarified that his statement was moulded and he never said anything against Amrita. He stated that the interviewer asked him how he managed to get so many actors for the premiere scene in the film Pehla Nasha. that's when he revealed that they were all his friends, and when Saif was getting ready, it was Amrita who questioned him where he was going and she was impressed with the way he was supporting this friend. He was quoted as saying:

"I would like to clarify something. I said something recently that got misconstrued. I was asked how I managed to get so many actors for the premiere scene in Pehla Nasha. I replied, ‘We were all friends. Hence, we supported each other in every way we can.’ Then I said, ‘When Saif Ali Khan was getting ready, Amrita Singh asked him where he was going. To which he said, ‘I am going to shoot for the premiere scene in Deepak’s film’. At this, Amrita replied, ‘Kya baat hai'. Your generation of actors is different. We never supported one another in such a manner. Aap logon ki dosti ko manna padega'."

Deepak further stated that his quote was published stating Amrita had stopped Saif from going to the premiere. He added that Amrita is a wonderful woman and has always supported every actor. He added that they made the quote look 'ghatiya'. He said:

"This was my quote. But it was published that Amrita stopped Saif from going to the premiere. I never said that. Amrita was only amazed to see the bond between Saif and other actors. In her time, they used to not help each other. Amrita is a sweetheart and a wonderful woman. She has always been supportive of everybody as an actor. I have not worked with her. However, for us, her debut film Betaab (1983) was the ultimate film. I must have seen it a hundred times. Itna ghatiya quote bana diya hai. I wake up and I get pained when I see the news stories. I never said that.”

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's relationship, which went downhill

There was a time when Saif and Amrita were madly in love, so much so that, they decided to elope and get married. In October 1991, Saif and Amrita tied the knot, and their families knew nothing about it. Later, the couple welcomed two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. However, they parted ways in 2004. Talking about his equation with his ex-wife, Amrita, post-divorce, Saif revealed that she taught him the importance of work.
