The sequel will follow 'Prince T'Challa II's journey as he grows up and steps into his role. Marvel Studios made the announcement during its Comic-Con panel. Letitia Wright and Winston Duke will be returning, as the third instalment will be directed by the famous director Ryan Coogler. Amid David Jonsson has become the new face of Marvel, people have been wanting to know more about the actor. So, let's have a look at his early life.
David Jonsson's early life: Parents' separation, expulsion from school
David Jonsson was born to working-class parents and had four siblings, among whom he is the youngest. David's mother worked as a police officer while his father was employed as an IT engineer at Heathrow. David was only 11 years old when his parents separated. According to the actor, when someone comes from a 'broken home', it kind of 'changes' them forever. David, once in an interview with The Guardian, revealed that, while he was not a 'bad kid' at all, he was expelled from his high school for fighting.
Revealing the push behind his condition back then, David Jonsson shared that he was a bit distracted during the time he was expelled from his high school. After being ousted from the school, David revealed the same to his mother, who was the first Black PCSO officer in London. His mom just had a night shift, and being exhausted and disappointed, she asked David about what he wanted to do with his life.
David Jonsson, to his own surprise, revealed that he wanted to be an actor. Such an answer shocked David himself. Speaking more about the same, David shared that his parents were from the working class and thus he considers acting to be a 'job' rather than a 'craft'.
After David Jonsson was expelled from his school, he moved to a school in Hammersmith, and eventually was exposed to acting through school plays and the National Youth Theatre. He then bagged a scholarship at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where he was for two years and then returned to London. After completing his course in Drama school, David was entirely focused on theatre projects.
David Jonsson's acting career
David Jonsson gave his first-ever film audition. However, something funny happened. During that time, he had a girlfriend, and he tattooed her name on his neck. After the audition, the director threw a blow at him, while he threw a chair, and thought he nailed it. Speaking about what happened next, David said:
"I got my girlfriend at the time to draw a tattoo on my neck. The casting director threw a punch at me. I threw a chair at him. I thought I nailed it. I was like, ‘Oh: I guess I’m not as good as I thought.’ (as he didn't get a callback).”
After being trained at RADA, David began his career on the West End stage. Following this, he landed a project in a television series with the BBC/HBO series, Industry. Apart from that, he was seen in Rye Lane in 2023 and Murder Is Easy. In 2024, for his role in Alien: Romulus, he bagged the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award.
