Daveigh Chase Had Unclaimed Payments, Manager Cites The Late Actress's Addiction Issues As A Factor

Daveigh Chase has unexpectedly passed away from meningitis and blood infection after she was taken to the hospital for malnutrition in June 2026. The actress made her debut with Sabrina the Teenage Witch in 1998 and continued appearing in many other shows. However, she built a fan base after being featured as 'Samara Morgan' in The Ring. Daveigh had many other TV shows to her credit, including Charmed, ER, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Mercy, and more.

While Daveigh Chase left the film industry in 2016, details related to her life over all these years until her sudden death are now grabbing a lot of attention. Notably, her manager, John Ryan, has already opened up about the tough phase that she was reportedly going through before her demise. Daveigh Chase’s manager said that the actress had a lot of unclaimed payments for her work

As mentioned, Daveigh Chase started her career in 1998 and became a popular face with the roles that she portrayed on screen. In a recent interview with The California Post, the late actress’s manager, John Ryan, alleged that she was in such a condition that she had yet to obtain her unclaimed payments for the work she did over the years in the film industry. While the exact amount was not revealed, the figure was in millions.

Back in 2002, Daveigh was selected to give her voice to 'Lilo Pelekai' in Lilo & Stitch, Disney’s animated science-fiction comedy-drama film. John claimed that although the actress signed an agreement for the film, she did not receive the entire payment at once. It was instead a deal where Daveigh was provided with a portion of the merchandise sales, theme park attractions, and other fields, where her voice was used.

The situation to claim the remaining payments for Daveigh’s work became difficult with time due to her addiction problems. Chase was reportedly addicted to heroin and fentanyl. But John did not stop trying to contact her, despite failing to speak to the actress multiple times. John said that since Daveigh has passed away, the next of kin can collect the unclaimed payments, and in this case, it is going to be her father.

Daveigh Chase’s boyfriend reportedly launched three separate fundraisers before her death

A GoFundMe page allegedly created by Daveigh Chase’s boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, is creating headlines. Notably, Daveigh’s manager has already stated that the actress’s family has no idea about the fundraiser. On the other hand, a new report has claimed that three separate fundraisers were started by Roy before Daveigh’s death.

The first one featured Roy recalling the first time he met Daveigh. He said that she was homeless due to a dispute with her mother, and she reportedly quit acting years ago due to her health issues. Roy wrote in the first fundraiser that Daveigh has been hospitalised and that, as per the doctors, she might not survive. In the second fundraiser, Roy wrote that he was taking care of Daveigh and continued:

“When she started losing weight, she finally agreed to go to the hospital, and that's when we learned how serious her condition was. The doctors told me the medicine isn't working, and that she is passing away. Despite everything, Daveigh wants to spend her remaining time with me, comfortable and together, rather than in a hospital.”

Roy said in the third fundraiser that Daveigh Chase was a victim of bullying and was unable to find safety and happiness in downtown Los Angeles. He stated that he promised to protect Daveigh when they first met. Roy also said that Daveigh had been diagnosed with meningitis and blood infections, and since she wanted to live with him forever, he was aiming to give her a sense of home and peace.
