Dakota Mortensen’s attorney revealed why he took so long to put the protective order against Taylor Frankie Paul and revealed he was afraid of the force that would be put up on him. Speaking about the same, he shared:

“Unfortunately, and I don’t get to say this very often with male victims, but he’s a domestic violence victim, your Honor. He is coerced either through romantic interest or interests involving his son and with very charismatic tests, and very charismatic personality to come back and rejoin this romantic relationship until it blows up, again.”

At the hearing, court ordered both Taylor and Dakota to stay 100 feet away from each other for the next three years. The order also stated that though there are no criminal orders against them, they could be arrested if any other incident occurs. Talking about the custody of their son, Ever, it will remain with Dakota and Taylor has visitation rights only. Commissioner Russell Minas asked the estranged couple to find a way to co-parent. On the other hand, the lawyer appointed to represent Ever, asked both parents to do mental health and domestic violence assessments.

As per a spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department, the allegations have been made in both directions. Reports suggest that Taylor and Dakota got involved in a physical altercation at his home during a dispute over his past romance.

After the domestic assault investigation was reported, sources revealed details of the couple’s volatile relationship. A source told TMZ that Taylor was the one who got physical during the fight. The source also revealed that during the altercation, Taylor grabbed Dakota by the throat and face while pulling off his necklace. TMZ also published footage from a 2023 incident in which Paul was seen yelling and throwing a chair at Mortensen. The whole incident reportedly took place in front of their child.

Taylor Frankie Paul has filed for a temporary restraining order against her ex-lover, Dakota Mortensen. Taylor's spokesperson revealed that she has been suffering mental and physical abuse silently for years. During an April 7, 2026, hearing, a judge granted Mortensen custody of their son, with up to 8 hours per week of visitation for Paul, supervised by a paid supervisor.
