Katherine's father, Mike Chu, was also a tennis player, and her mom was a track athlete, according to a report by The Sun. Collin had shared a statement that read:

"We are actually expecting later this year, in a few months. We just started telling people this week. We said what a better way, the best way, to just announce it to the world if I was able to come out and win.”

They soon started dating, and as Morikawa's career flourished, their relationship bloomed. It was in November 2021 when Morikawa proposed to Katherine, and on November 26, 2022, the couple got married in Los Angeles, in a private wedding ceremony.
