'Cocktail 2' Ending Explained, 'Diya' Leaves 'Kunal' Heartbroken By Testing His Loyalty During Trip

Cocktail 2, the sequel to the much-loved Bollywood movie, Cocktail, was released in theatres on June 19, 2026. The newly released film stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. Just like the previous film, Cocktail 2 also features a love triangle. The story of Cocktail 2 follows the long-term relationship between 'Kunal' (played by Shahid Kapoor) and 'Diya' (played by Rashmika Mandanna). Plotline of Cocktail 2

Cocktail 2 revolves around the love story of 'Kunal' and 'Diya'. By profession, 'Kunal' is a chef and doesn't believe in the institution of marriage. On the other hand, 'Diya' is very caring and is constantly wary of 'Kunal's' love for her. 'Kunal' and 'Diya' are childhood sweethearts and in a long-term relationship. Due to this, everyone in their families wants to see them get married. Thus, to escape such questions, the pair decide to take a vacation to Sicily, Italy. After reaching Italy, the couple meets 'Diya's' friend, 'Ally', a free-spirited girl who convinces them to be their guide in Sicily.

'Diya' and 'Ally's' secret plan to test 'Kunal's' loyalty

Before their trip to Sicily, 'Diya' and 'Kunal' go to a party, where he jokes about cheating in a drunken state. This joke doesn’t go well with 'Diya', and she remained troubled due to this. After meeting 'Ally' in Sicily, one night 'Diya' had a private conversation with her. To gain clarity about 'Kunal's' love for her, 'Diya' insists that 'Ally' seduce her boyfriend, 'Kunal'. Eventually, 'Ally' agrees with 'Diya' and begins their secret mission to test 'Kunal's' loyalty.

As 'Ally' and 'Kunal' spend more time together, the former falls in love with him. Due to their secret plan, 'Diya' used to give space to 'Kunal', giving an opportunity to 'Ally' to seduce him. On one night, 'Ally' longingly looks at 'Kunal', and the duo ends up spending the night together. The next morning, 'Ally' calls 'Diya' and tells her that nothing happened between her and 'Kunal' and he rejected her. Hearing this, 'Diya' gets happy and proposes to 'Kunal'.

'Ally's' surprise visit to India just before 'Diya' and 'Kunal's' wedding celebrations

Months after 'Diya' and 'Kunal' returned to India and were all set to get married, 'Ally's' visit to India surprised them. She takes over the bridesmaid duties and tries to grow close to 'Kunal', which doesn’t go unnoticed by 'Diya'. One night, when 'Kunal' and 'Ally' were alone, the latter teased the former about always listening to his girlfriend, 'Diya', and marrying her as she wants it. In response, 'Kunal' said that although he would not have proposed to 'Diya', they would still be together. During this moment, 'Ally' confesses her love for 'Kunal' and leaves him speechless.

Things go unexpectedly wrong when 'Ally's' parents arrive at the venue. After 'Ally's' parents arrive, they have a private conversation involving 'Kunal'. During that moment, 'Ally' spills the beans about 'Diya' and her secret plan to test 'Kunal's' loyalty by seducing him. Knowing the truth, 'Kunal' is heartbroken and leaves the wedding venue.

After 'Kunal' storms out of the wedding venue, 'Diya' and 'Ally' go after him. While they find 'Kunal', the latter lashes out at both of them. He then admitted that if he had met 'Ally' earlier, he would have envisioned a relationship with her, but as he had been in a long-term relationship with 'Diya', it had always been her. He chooses 'Diya' over 'Ally' and explains that their relationship was built on comfort, trust, support and time. The movie ends on a happy note with 'Diya' and 'Kunal's' wedding with 'Ally's' blessing.
