In a piece of heartbreaking news, Clive Davis, the music producer who had founded Arista Records and J Records, passed away at the age of 94. He died at his house in New York City on June 22, 2026. Clive Davis had shaped the careers of stars such as Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Carlos Santana, Janis Joplin, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood and many more. His death was confirmed by his representative named, Aliza Rabinoff.

Clive Davis was not keeping good health, a few days before his demise

Clive Davis' demise was confirmed by his representative named, Aliza Rabinoff who revealed that he passed away peacefully from age-related illness surrounded by his family and loved ones. Davis had faced an array of health issues in the recent years. He had respiratory issues, and his representative had stated:

"Davis had faced several health issues in recent years. In late May, he was hospitalised in New York City following an upper respiratory issue. He was released a few days later, with a rep saying at the time that the music mogul was in good spirits and happy to be recuperating at home.”

Clive Davis' family mourns his loss

Well, it was in 2021 when Davis got diagnosed with facial paralysis, a.k.a. Bell's Palsy. It was a serious but temporary condition where there was a sudden weakness of the facial muscles. Davis had to postpone his annual pre-Grammy Gala. It is actually the night before the ceremony, every year since 1975. Davis' family, now in a statement, has addressed the world about their dad, the iconic music legend whose vision, instincts, and relentless pursuit of excellence shaped the soundtrack of countless lives. It further read:

"He discovered, mentored, and championed the greatest artists in modern music history, leaving an indelible mark on culture that will endure for generations. To his family, Clive was Dad and Granddaddy, the steady presence at the center of our lives, the the source of wisdom, strength, encouragement, and unconditional love. No matter how extraordinary his professional accomplishments, he never lost sight of what mattered most: the people he loved.”

Clive Davis' musical business journey spanned over decades

Clive Davis' journey in the music industry spanned many decades. He was named president of Columbia Records in 1967 at the age of 35. Davis had created hits in every decade with music artists such as Joplin, Barry Manilow, Houston, the Grateful Dead, The Notorious B.I.G., Keys and Kelly Clarkson. Clive Davis was the ultimate long-term player who was a label head in the 1960s. He was on top then, and even post-40 years, he was still on top.

Clive Davis once revealed that he could never think of a career apart from music

Clive Davis was always passionate about music and was enthusiastic about the same. His friends and collaborators had also supported him in the journey, and Davis, once in an interview back in 2017, had shared that it was hard to separate the life he lived from his career, with contemporary music. Clive Davis was born back in Brooklyn on April 4, 1932 and was raised in a Jewish family. His home was primarily in the middle-class Crown Heights neighbourhood. Clive's dad was an electrician and salesman, and his mom stayed at home. Davis' parents passed away by the time he was 189. Davis' mom, Florence, had died due to a cerebral haemorrhage. His father, Herman, had died due to a heart attack. In his words:
