Choo Ja Hyun and Yu Xiaoguang were one of Korea's most loved celebrity couples. However, the latter had a very public fall from grace in 2021 when paparazzi shots of a lady sitting on his lap went viral. Before this incident, Yu was labelled as one of the most loving and doting husbands. Choo Ja Hyun and Yu Xiao Guang are a Korean-Chinese inter-racial celebrity couple who belong to their respective nation’s entertainment fraternity. The couple got married in 2017 and even have a 6-year-old son.
Choo Ja Hyun and Yu Xiaoguang appeared on SBS’s popular entertainment show, Same Bed, Different Dreams 2, on July 24, 2023. During the time, the duo addressed the infamous cheating scandal on camera for the first time. Choo Ja spoke about how she and her husband faced the scandal, which was a hot topic in Korea and everyone was talking about it. Talking about the incident, she sharedthat it took a toll on their mental health, and eventually broke down, talking about the incident. She further added :
"I am good friends with the woman [who was involved in the scandal]. She was on her phone as she got in the car, and she sat on his lap for a brief moment before moving to the back, but before that moment was caught, the car started moving and so it appeared as if she rode on his lap as they left."

Yu Xiaoguang also added that the picture was blown out of proportion. He felt people had already decided he was a cheater, and did not want to hear his side. Yu added that he apologises to his wife as for his one action, she had to face the consequences as well. He said:
"The footage was edited with malicious intent. I wanted to explain that it was not what it looked like, but I felt that people just were not interested in what I had to say. They all wanted to believe in only what they saw, that scandalous incident. I thought that time would bring out the truth. At that time, I was most apologetic toward my wife."
Yu Xiaoguang was accused of cheating on his wife, Choo Ja Hyun, as soon as the paparazzi pictures and videos of Yu with another woman went live. Yu allowed a woman to sit on his lap as they were leaving a party in his car. The woman was supposedly only a friend of Yu. As soon as these shots were circulated, netizens accused Yu of cheating and brutally trolled him.
As soon as the pictures went viral, Yu quickly clarified his stance on his Weibo account, which equal as Chinese Instagram. He stated that he was remorseful for his actions, but he hasn’t ever been unfaithful to his wife, Choo Ja in his marriage. Choo Ja Hyun also took to her Instagram to addressed the issue and also termed her husband’s behaviour as ‘inappropriate’. However, she did not accuse her husband of cheating and called the incident as ‘embarrassing’. Yu's post on Weibo reads:
“I’m so sorry for any anger or frustration this has caused you. After watching the video, I have deeply reflected and am regretting my actions. Most of all, I greatly disappointed my wife, who deserves nothing but love. I’ll be more careful of my words and actions and make sure this never happens again.”
