Celia Imrie revealed she was once mistaken for a prostitute
Recently, on the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast, Celia Imrie said she was mistaken for a prostitute, and she was nearly arrested by U.S. police. She shared that she was pushed into the back of a patrolling car after two men thought she was trying to pick them up while asking directions to reach her hotel.
Celia revealed that her friend, actress and writer Fidelis Morgan, had arranged to meet in a city in California, but she found out where she had pre-booked a hotel, and they couldn't find it. She said:
"I was in Los Angeles, and my friend Fidelis was in Davis, and we decided one weekend to meet in the middle. We got there about half past six at night looking for the hotel that we'd booked, which was the Radisson. And it was all boarded up."

Celia revealed that after the hotel was full, they decided to go to the casino, but it was jam-packed. After they asked for the location, they were told the hotel had moved to the other side of town, and they had to make their way on foot. She revealed that while they were walking, two gentlemen approached them, and she asked for directions, but they got scared, thinking they were trying to pick them up. She said:
"By this time, it was getting dark, and we walked around and found somewhere with a bit more light. Two gentlemen were coming towards me. And I said, 'Excuse me, can you tell me where I'm looking for my hotel?' And they took terrible fright and thought I was trying to pick them up and sort of scarpered."
The next minute a police car came and asked whether they were street walking, and she told them they were looking for a hotel. Recalling the incident of nearly getting arrested, Celia said:
"The next minute, this police car drew up and said, 'Are you two street walking? We said, 'No, we're looking for a hotel. She said, 'Get in. And she put the flat of her hand on my head and shoved me down into the back of her police car, you know, black and white, real flashing and everything."

Celia revealed that she got a free ride from the police to the hotel, and she didn't think the receptionist was very pleased as she judged her. Celia said:
"And I got a free ride in a police car all the way to the front door of the Radisson. And I don't think the receptionist was very pleased. They wondered who on earth was arriving.'
Celia has often travelled with her friend whom she first met in 1975 while touring with actress Glenda Jackson. She wants to make the most of her experience, but the unexpected police ride was something else.
