Celeste Rivas' Chats With D4vd Revealed, Met Singer When She Was 12, Family Releases Statement

The case involving 21-year-old singer-songwriter David Anthony Burke, aka D4vd, and the heinous murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez has taken a darker turn with new revelations. With the teen’s cause of death now confirmed, newly surfaced alleged messages and images have intensified public scrutiny, adding to earlier rumours about a possible relationship between David and Celeste. While David has pleaded not guilty to Celeste's murder, the victim's family has spoken out.

Old chats between Celeste and David resurface amid death investigation

In recent days, screenshots, chat logs, and photos circulating on platforms like Reddit and Discord have fueled speculation about when the two may have first interacted. Some posts claim contact began years earlier when Celeste was much younger. The New York Post recently obtained alleged chats between the two that indicate Celeste met the singer in 2022, when she was 12 years old. In a fan chatroom, a user named D4vd wrote, "Celeste in here??", to which a user named Celeste replied, "HI DAVID BARKKK."

In another screenshot obtained by the publication, there was a discussion involving the long-speculated romance between Celeste and David, with the former's mother confirming with TMZ that she indeed met a guy named David, her "new boyfriend," before running away from home multiple times. Besides, several photos of the two allegedly hanging out together have surfaced, where the curly-haired girl closely resembles Celeste.

However, it’s important to note that much of this material has not been officially verified by investigators. While prosecutors have outlined a timeline in court, many of the viral claims remain unconfirmed. 

Celeste Rivas' new autopsy findings indicate 'sharp force injuries' on her body

Celeste's murder investigation has been actively ongoing, though most of the findings were classified. Investigators had previously stated that it was nearly impossible to determine the exact cause of the teen's death, given the "half-frozen" and decomposed condition in which her dismembered body was found. However, the teen's family finally has an answer with a graphic autopsy report released on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

According to the Los Angeles County medical examiner, Celeste's dismembered body was found in a zippered body bag. It showed two injuries that are believed to be sharp force wounds, one to the chest and another to the abdomen. The examiners noted additional abrasions, but their exact cause could not be determined due to advanced decomposition. The report also states that the victim's arms and legs had been dismembered, and the blue plastic fragments embedded in the cut areas were collected as evidence.

Two fingers from Celeste's left hand were also reported missing. According to Dr. Priya Banerjee, a Board Certified Forensic Pathologist who reviewed the public report, the injuries were consistent with stabbing, and suggested the dismemberment likely occurred after death. A tattoo on the inside of Celeste's right index finger, reading "Shhh....", helped in her identification and linked her to David, who has the same tattoo. Dr. Banerjee said:

"This is a very difficult case because of the decomposition. It looks like likely a knife made (the wounds) but I can see why they use the wording they did, given the condition of the body."

Celeste Rivas Hernandez's family speaks out after new medical report

Celeste’s family shared their grief following the release of the medical examiner’s report. In a statement released by the family's attorney, they are devastated at the new findings about their daughter's heinous death, and they are in deep emotional pain. Requesting privacy in this difficult time on the family's behalf, their lawyer, Patrick Steinfeld, said on Wednesday:

"The Rivas Hernandez family is absolutely devastated by the findings contained in the Medical Examiner’s Report involving the horrible and gruesome death of their beloved daughter. These findings have caused profound emotional pain for the family. They respectfully ask for privacy, understanding, and patience as they process this information."

D4vd is charged with getting intimate with Celeste, 14, and then murdering her in April 2025. Her body was later discovered in a Hollywood Hills Parking lot on September 8, 2025. The case is ongoing.
