The 61-year-old was rushed to a local hospital after the incident, and his Friday night performance at Luxor was canceled, as per TMZ. The latest developments come amid an explosive legal dispute with Brian Evans, a singer and former opening act, who filed a complaint against Thompson on July 8, 2026.
Carrot Top faces lawsuits over alleged unsolicited sex video
In his filing made to federal court in Florida, Evans alleges that Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, sent him an unsolicited sexually explicit video depicting the comedian engaging in a sexual act with a man he described as appearing significantly younger than the comic. Evans said he was "immediately shocked, disturbed and offended" by the video.
The filing notes that even though he deleted it later, Evans discovered it had still been preserved in his iCloud account. The singer allegedly notified Thompson's team about the video and even objected to having received such explicit content without permission.
After this incident, Evans said his views about Carrot Top changed completely, and he no longer trusted him. He believes Thompson had falsely promised him his friendship and assistance in the professional field. He is now challenging a 2024 settlement agreement between them.
Evans claims in his complaint that the psychological stress he experienced after the August 2023 Maui wildfires prevented him from having the mental ability to knowingly participate in the 2024 settlement.
According to the document, Evans suffered from PTSD, anxiety, despair, and sleeplessness, which he says affected his judgment. He further claimed that he decided to resolve the conflict after Thompson assured him of getting future entertainment opportunities. The promise, he says, was never fulfilled.
Carrot Top's legal team accused Brian Evans of extortion
The dispute has since escalated into an explosive fallout between the former colleagues, according to the reports and court filings cited in the supplied material. Thompson’s legal team has reportedly accused Evans of extortion, alleging that he threatened to release the explicit recording unless he received a settlement amount of USD 500,000.
Evans has disputed the claims and filed an additional lawsuit, accusing Carrot Top of defamation and fraudulent misrepresentation. In light of this, a second alleged 'victim' has also reportedly filed a separate complaint against the comic.
The man, Zachary Defazio, has reportedly submitted a sworn declaration supporting Evans’ case, alleging that Thompson engaged in nonconsensual sexual conduct with him in 2021, when he was 19, and that he had been given alcohol while he was under the legal drinking age. As of now, both Evans' and Defazio's allegations remain unproven, and it has not been established whether Thompson faces any criminal charges.
Thompson was born in Rockledge, Florida. He grew up in Cocoa, graduated in 1983, and initially worked for a mortgage company. After completing high school, he enrolled at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. During his freshman year, he performed his first stand-up comedy gig and finally had his big break when he performed on Comic Strip Live in 1991. His nickname, 'Carrot Top', was attributed to a local swimming coach during his senior year, who gave him the moniker for his distinctive red hair.
The comic went on to star in multiple TV shows, sitcoms, and films, most notably Star Search, Larry the Cable Guy's Christmas Spectacular, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, and Tugger: The Jeep 4x4 Who Wanted to Fly. He has also hosted Cartoon Network's AM Mayhem and starred as a spokesperson in 1-800-CALL-ATT commercials.
In 2005, Carrot Top launched his headlining residency at Luxor, which had to be cancelled following his suicide attempt. No further details about the incident are officially known yet. His rep told TMZ:
"Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers, and respectfully ask for privacy."
