Mumbai-born Aviva Mehta recently married Daniel Han, and their Indian-Korean wedding is currently doing all the talking. The bride and groom paid tribute to their respective cultures on their special day, and it was an emotional moment for both. Aviva and Daniel’s wedding couture with personal details drew a lot of attention on social media.

Aviva grew up in Mumbai, whereas Daniel was raised in Maryland, and the duo now live in New York. The duo’s Indian-Korean wedding began with a paebaek ceremony. It is a Korean ceremony in which the couple bows to their elders, serves them tea, and receives blessings in return. For the ceremony, Daniel chose a hanbok look. He also carried a stole made from his grandmother’s hanbok, along with his grandfather's vintage Korean watch.

On the other hand, Aviva opted for an ivory-and-blush-pink bridal hanbok. She paired her attire with her grandmother’s diamond necklace. When the jewellery box reached her before the wedding, the bride couldn’t hold back her emotions. Speaking about the same to Vogue India, Aviva said:

“It smelled exactly like her closet growing up.”

For the outdoor wedding vows, Aviva wore a custom-made lehenga from the shelves of Tarun Tahiliani. The designers hold a special place in Aviva’s family as her mother, too, had worn Tarun Tahiliani on her own wedding ceremony. Aviva’s lehenga featured a structured, hand-embroidered skirt with crystals, pearls, and sequins atop it. The choli of the lehenga had draped lace wings.

However, it was the bride's tulle veil, which caught our attention. Her veil was embroidered with cranes that are symbolic in Korea. The cranes signify longevity, and the way Aviva included the Korean symbol in her Indian attire was truly special.

Not just Aviva, but Daniel, too made sure to leave a mark with his attire. Han wore a black double-breasted Watson Ellis suit with wide-legged trousers and an open collar in place of a tie. His shirt cuff had the initials AMH, for Aviva Mehta Han, embroidered on it.

For her reception look, Aviva picked a tulle gown from Gaurav Gupta’s couture. The silk-chiffon gown was customised with thousands of handcrafted mogra tassels. This was Aviva’s way of paying tribute to her grandmother, as mogra (Jasmine) was her favorite flower. Since Aviva’s grandmother wasn’t keeping well and couldn’t travel to the US for the wedding, she kept the mogras to feel her presence.

Aviva Mehta first met Daniel Han in Washington, DC, while visiting her best friend there. She thought he was the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. In an interview with Vogue India, Aviva revealed that her friend persuaded her to introduce herself to Daniel. They had a date the following evening. She soon left D.C., unsure whether she would meet him again. Months later, Aviva got a job in Washington, D.C., and connected with Daniel. They met again, and he eventually proposed to her.
