Manish Malhotra at DCW: Romancing the pre-independence era and brilliantly portraying the amalgamation of Indian traditional designs with then contemporary British cuts and flair, the ace couturier Manish Malhotra put together a to-die for bridal assemble for brides from every walk of life. Velvet and Zardosi work hems complimented the color palatte of cherry red, burgundy quite well, set off with tones of mint green, aqua, and off-whites.
Clever artistic work on sleeves and bodices and sheer jacket with sequin works were amongst the most enticing features of the collection.

Even during the Elizabethan Era and at the time of Waterloo, French Modistes were quite famous and boasted of the wealthy lady patrons from amongst the peerage. Borrowing from the flair and elegance of one of the most fashionable figures post Renaissance, Marie Antoinette, Varun Bahl redefined the haute Indian Bridal Couture at DCW this year. The artistic combination of traditional Indian designs with subtle embellishments and laces, Anarkalis with Majestic Jackets, Chiffons with Tulle and Damask and Shades of Wine with Gold and Ivory eased the meeting of the two most diverse cultures in the world.

Ashima Leena at DCW
For those who believe in ethnic Indian Bridal Wear rooted in traditional colors of red, maroon, beige, mauve and green, gold brocade combined with gossamer silk, chiffon and georgettes cut in layers and panels, Ashima Leena’s Collection at DCW 2011 was a real treat. Lehengas, Churidars, Sarees, Odhanis, heavily embellished sleeves, bodices and jackets and stylish use of latkans and tassels added to the glitter of the bridal collection.
