'Who Let Me Jump..' Brazilian Girl's Last IG Story Fuels Premonition Theory After Fatal Bungee Jump

A tragic accident of a 21-year-old Brazilian woman, who went bungee jumping, has left the internet in shock. While internet users have been trying to process the gross negligence in the adventure activity that turned fatal, a new discussion began on social media. It started after the same Brazilian woman's last Instagram Story before her death on June 13, 2026, resurfaced on the internet. Incidentally, the unsettling connection of the story to the eventual incident has left everyone in shock. 

Brazilian girl's final Instagram story starts premonition debate

A few hours before the accident, Maria Eduarda shared multiple Instagram stories. They gave a glimpse of her visit to the famous Ponte Do Esqueleto, better known as the Skeleton Bridge in São Paulo. Just like other customers, she wanted to try the thrilling Bungee jump. In turn, she shared multiple stories of the place before her turn. They reflected her excitement about the experience and offered insight into the location's ambience. One story in particular drew more attention, in which she shared a photo of the bridge used as a starting point for the activity. 

Alongside the photo of the bridge, she penned, 'Quem foi o doido que deixou eu vir pular de uma ponte? ' It translates to "Who was the crazy person who let me jump off a bridge?" The caption was shared as a light-hearted joke about the adventurous activity she was about to try. Maria also shared a video showing other participants who completed the jump before her turn. But when the news of her death surfaced, the screenshots of these posts quickly went viral on social media. 

Some even called it a chilling update, while others argued that people often interpret ordinary posts differently after tragedy. At the same time, the posts started debates about premonitions and intuition. Some social media users think it was strangely prophetic. But others felt it was a casual remark before the adventure activity. The account has now been deactivated or deleted from the platform.

Meanwhile, one person penned, "It even feels like premonition signs. Incredible how we even post stories without imagining they might be our last." Another person wrote, "way too old, she was in flight position when she was thrown. 

What happened during the fatal bungee jump? 

Maria Eduarda travelled from her hometown to Jandira for the rope-jumping experience. Her fiancé accompanied her. According to reports, the activity was being held at the skeleton bridge. Notably, the place is known for extreme sports and adventure tourism. Initial investigation suggests a serious safety failure occurred before the jump. The people nearby realised that the main safety rope was not properly attached to the harness after she was launched. In turn, everyone in the viral video was seen in panic as they shouted warnings at the terrifying situation. 

Maria Eduarda fell neatly 40 meters into a rocky area below. Soon, emergency responders were called to the scene. However, she had suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. In fact, her fiance who saw the whole incident unfold, was treated for shock. Soon after the incident, netizens criticised the event organisers. In turn, six people linked to the incident were detained. At the same time, investigators are trying to determine whether the event was caused by negligence.
