Boney Kapoor Reveals Sridevi Watched Their Daughter, Janhvi Kapoor's Debut Film, 'Dhadak'

In a recent interview, Boney Kapoor revealed that Sridevi, who passed away a few months before the release of Janhvi's debut film, 'Dhadak', actually watched the movie.

Janhvi Kapoor is one of the most loved star kids in Bollywood. For those who don't know, Janhvi is the daughter of filmmaker, Boney Kapoor and the late actress, Sridevi. Moreover, Janhvi made her debut in Bollywood with Dhadak in 2018. Unfortunately, her mom, Sridevi passed away a few months before Janhvi's debut film was released, and she couldn't see her daughter making it to the big screen, which left everyone heartbroken. A few days ago, Janhvi shared that her mom secretly watched her giving her first shot. And now, in a recent interview, Boney Kapoor revealed that Sridevi actually watched Janhvi on screen.

In a recent interview with ETimes, Boney Kapoor was asked if it makes him disappointed that Sridevi couldn't watch Janhvi making her debut in Bollywood. As a response to the question, Boney revealed that when Janhvi grew up, filmmaker, Karan Johar once came to their house and expressed his desire to launch Janhvi in a film.

Boney also mentioned that Karan wanted to launch Janhvi in the movie, Kalank, which was called Shiddat, back when Sridevi was alive. Boney stated that Karan wanted Janhvi and Sridevi to act in two roles in Kalank, which were later played by Alia Bhatt and Madhuri Dixit. Boney Kapoor stated:

"He wanted to make Shiddat with Janhvi which was later released as Kalank. He wanted Janhvi to play the role which was eventually played by Alia Bhatt in Kalank. And he wanted Sridevi to do the role eventually played by Madhuri Dixit. Later, he decided to make Dhadak with Janhvi. Till Sridevi was alive, Kalank was called Shiddat. She had agreed to do the film reluctantly."

Speaking along the same lines, Boney Kapoor revealed that later, Janhvi Kapoor was launched in the movie, Dhadak. The filmmaker also mentioned that during the time when Sridevi was alive, they watched the rushes of the film. So, in actuality, Sridevi had watched her daughter, Janhvi's debut film. Boney Kapoor revealed:

"We had seen the rushes of Dhadak when Sridevi was alive."

Earlier, in an interview with Galatta Plus, Janhvi Kapoor walked down the memory lane and recalled how her mom secretly watched her giving her first shot. The actress shared that on her first day on the set of Dhadak, she was really nervous about her mom, Sridevi's opinion about her. And knowing that Janhvi is tensed, Sridevi hid behind a tree with Manish Malhotra and watched her daughter giving her first shot.

In the same interview, Janhvi shared that later, she came to know about her mom watching her first shot. She also revealed that just a few days ago, she came to know about her mom's reaction to the same. Janhvi shared that one of her mom's friends called her and told her what Sridevi said after watching Janhvi doing her first film. Sridevi said Janhvi has it in her to do really well. Janhvi shared that Sridevi also told her friend that she is very proud of her daughter.
