Billy Corgan Calls Age Gap With Chloe Mendel An 'Advantage', All About 26-Years Younger Wife

Billy Corgan has been married to Chloe Mendel since 2023. However, it was only recently that he opened up about their age gap. Talking to The New York Times' weekly Popcast show, he reflected on the "advantage" of his wife belonging to a different, younger generation. He explained that over the years he met many "broken women" before finally finding Chloe, who he claimed hadn't been "wounded" in the ways that he and his past partners were.
When asked if him and Chloe Mendel being from different generations worked better for them, Billy Corgan gave a cryptic answer. He said that he wouldn't want to make the feminists mad. He went on to clarify that he doesn't mind discussing the age gap, and added that the women from his generation didn't have the support that the women his wife's age got. He said:
"I guess what I'm trying to say is I think that a lot of women born in the '90s, given the societal changes, given the correct and proper rise of feminism as a kind of way to balance properly, a lot of things. But because so many women of our generation were going through that without a lot of help and coming out of a lot of abuse, it was harder to put those pieces together if you're broken and they're broken."
Billy was further asked about the women from his generation that he had dated in the past. The singer shared that there was nothing wrong with them, but two broken people could not make a whole. He was quoted as saying:
"It was nothing wrong with them. It was… it's like, you know, what's the old thing? Two wrongs don't make a right. I met a lot of broken women along the way. I mean, I was shocked at the stories that I would hear about what they'd been through."
Billy went on to admit that he and Chloe Mendel didn't share the same history and life experiences. He said she wasn't affected by the things that had affected him, and that was an advantage for them. Billy Corgan revealed that she had a different version of the world and, since she was young, she was more open to love and relationships. He was quoted as saying:
"When I met my wife and had that gap, she just wasn't affected by those same politics. And then her youth was an advantage because she hadn't been wounded like so many people are, because you just go through life and you get wounded. So I had the advantage of somebody who was really open to love and the possibility and, for whatever reason, just decided not to judge me for who I was, particularly in that moment."
