The controversial reality show, Bigg Boss 16 finally premiered on national television on October 2, 2022. The Salman Khan-hosted show caught instant attention from the viewers as soon as producer, Sajid Khan made his way into the show. The reason behind it was the accusations from six famous Bollywood actresses and models, who accused the producer of assaulting them sexually. The six actresses were Paula, Saloni Chopra, Rachel White, Aahana Kumar, Mandana Karimi, and an unnamed female journalist. All the six ladies accused Sajid Khan of sexual misconduct when in October 2018, the #MeToo movement was on the rise.
On the professional front, Sajid Khan's career has gone down many downshifts in recent years. His last two films, Himmatwala and Humshakal as a director were box-office bombs and hampered his image in Bollywood. If reports are to be believed, Sajid Khan is going to make a comeback with the film, 100 Percent, whose story will also be reportedly written by him.
At the premiere of Bigg Boss 16, Salman Khan called his close friend and filmmaker, Sajid Khan, onto the stage after a lovely intro. From Kashmera Shah to Shehnaaz Gill, and many other stars gave their best wishes to the director, who was rightly both excited and nervous about the prospect of participating in the show. However, things broke down on the internet when Shehnaaz's video message for Sajid Khan was displayed on the big screen, and even her die-hard fans found it indigestible. Many fans considered Shehnaaz's video message for Sajid as the 'show's lowest point'. Here are some of the reactions:
During Sajid Khan's appearance on Salman Khan's show, Bigg Boss 16's premiere, the filmmaker opened up about the sexual assault allegations against him in the #MeToo movement. The director shared that the last few years have been extremely tough for him. Sajid also stated that he had seen so many ups and downs in his life. Reflecting on the same:
'Last four years se main ghar par baitha hoon, not really getting much of work. Toh jab Colors ki team ne mujhe invite kiya to I just felt ki it's time ki main ghar main bhi jaun, thoda apne baare me bhi sikhu. Maine zindagi main bohot utaar-chadav dekhein hai. Pichhle chaar salon main bohot niche.”
Earlier this year, Sajid Khan had given an official statement in response to the allegations which were put against him. The filmmaker recalled how he was given no credit for his work in the film, Housefull 4. Opening up about the reaction of his family, Sajid Khan had said:
"In the wake of the allegations against me and the pressure being put on my family, my producer and the stars of my film Housefull 4, I must take the moral responsibility of stepping down from my directorial post, till the time I can allay the allegations and prove the truth... Request my friends in the media to kindly not pass judgment till the truth is out."
