Popular television actress, Shilpa Shinde, who was last seen in Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai as Angoori Devi, is one such actress who is currently in the limelight. One reason is that she is the winner of Big Boss Season 11, which she won defeating popular contestants, Hina Khan, Vikas Gupta and Puneesh Sharma. Secondly for her candid comments about her broken marriage with Romit Raj is getting her to the headlines more. Clearly, the two facets have merged together.
But now it seems that winning Bigg Boss 11 and a broken marriage with Romit Raj is nothing in comparison to what she has just revealed. In an interview with SpotboyE, she talked about an unknown marriage of hers. Yes, a second marriage! Shocking! She said, "Well, I would have been married now if", and when SpotboyE asked her, "if what?", she shockingly replied, "If I hadn't saved myself in time. In the first case, I realised that the man in question (Romit Raj) was taking me for granted. In the second case, I felt that I was getting suffocated. That guy was getting too possessive." When she was asked to name the guy, she replied, "Ab woh main nahin bataungi," and then quickly added, "Why not focus on the fact that I am so happy now?"
This is really shocking! We all know that Shilpa was earlier engaged to Adalat and Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi fame actor Romit Raj. But this new revelation will surprise her million fans. In Romit's case, everything was set, from cards to carols, but the marriage was called off at the last moment for unknown reasons. Clearly, there would have been implications post this big decision. In an interview with the Tellychakkar, back in 2009, Shilpa opened up about her marriage and relationship with Romit. She said: “I had left everything because of my marriage. As a girl, I know what my responsibility towards my husband and his family is and I used to do everything according to his will. I kept all his family members in mind but he still expected more from me. In fact, I always used to give my shooting time to them due to which I stopped getting offers because of my terms and conditions.”
Talking about her equations with Romit’s family members, she was quoted as saying, “Whatever I was able to do I did and more than him I spent my time with his family. But now when we have split no one from his family has even bothered to call me and speak to me. I find this very strange I was feeling as I had done so much for them.” What did she think about the decision of calling off her marriage and post that? She candidly replied, “My wedding preparations were done, my wedding outfit was ready, I had even bought my jewellery and the cards were also printed. It is very sad that I had to call off my marriage one month prior to the actual date. But I feel it is a wise decision and I am very happy that at least now I won’t have to make adjustments for each and every single thing. I will now be able to take my own decisions.”
It's been seven years since. In an interview with Spotboye, when Shilpa was asked about the breakup, she opened up saying that Rohit asked her to sever ties with her family. She said, "I don't want to dig up the past. But all I will say is that it is wrong for a man to expect his wife to break ties with her parents".
