Every week, new talents are launched in the entertainment industry and while some stick around, others just end up losing their self. Now with the advent of digital space, everyday talents are exposed to the limelight, but only some make it big as an actor and gain the fame for which they had entered the industry. Do you remember who played Salman Khan’s love interest in Tere Naam? Yes, we are talking about Bhumika Chawla, who also played the role of Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. (Also Read: Aditya Narayan Thinks Neha Kakkar Will Not Get Married To Rohanpreet Singh And Here's The Reason Why)
Bhumika Chawla is a prominent name in the southern cinema and is rarely seen in Bollywood films. Because Bhumika prefers to stay away from the limelight, not much is known about her personal life to her fans. Bhumika had tied the knot with her Yoga teacher, Bharat Thakur on October 21, 2007, at Devlali, Nashik in a Gurdwara. Reportedly, Bhumika and Bharat had started dating when she used to attend his classes and before tying the knot, the couple had enjoyed their courtship period of four years. Bhumika and Bharat had embraced parenthood in 2014 with the arrival of their son.
October 21, 2020, marks to be 13th wedding anniversary of Bhumika Chawla and Bharat Thakur. To wish her husband on their anniversary, Bhumika posted a candid all-smiling picture with him and captioned it as “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step... LOVE... and it’s love, learning, understanding, a journey of laughter and moments... discovering more about each other And ourselves... Thank you for Everything... may God bless us and our journey together... Proud of you and your hard work and your dedication to whatever you do in life. Happy Anniversary.”
While neither Bhumika Chawla nor Bharat Thakur had spoken much about their personal life, we got hold of an interview for the actress, wherein she talked about raising her son. Speaking on gender sensitivity in an interview with Parent Circle, Bhumika had said, “The way I grew up, gender sensitivity was never a topic of discussion, it was simply a way of life. I was never told that I can or cannot do certain things. I was the one in my family who would change the light bulbs, buy groceries or cook meals. I never faced any discrimination at home growing up.” (Also Read: Kangana Ranaut Shares A Glimpse Of Her Cousin's 'Haldi' Ceremony, Looks Pretty In A Red Ethnic Wear)
Revealing that she tries to raise her son too, without any bias and in a way that he respects women when he grows up, Bhumika Chawla had remarked, “So, I try to raise my son too without any bias. Just last month, while picking some toys from the store, he came back to me saying I don’t want pink ones as it is a girl's colour. I explained to him that there is nothing like a boy’s colour or a girl’s colour, all that matters is what colour you like. So yes, I will do my bit to raise him in a way he grows up to respect women and treat them as equal. On a lighter note, when he has a girlfriend, I will make sure that he helps her around, divides the chores and that they treat each other with respect.”
As mentioned, Bhumika Chawla and Bharat Thakur prefer to keep a low profile despite her belonging from the entertainment industry. It makes sense as the only time we had heard about the husband and wife in the media were for their separation rumours. In 2011, the reports were rife that Bhumika and Bharat were living separately and she had also filed a complaint against him in Hyderabad. Elaborating on the same, a source had informed the Hindustan Times, “At Bharat’s insistence, Bhumika started a production house with a Telugu film, Thakida Thakita. But it bombed, leading to losses amounting to a couple of crores. He also got her to invest in a business venture in Dubai but it’s not doing well. Last month, she filed a police complaint against him in Hyderabad.” However, Bhumika had later clarified the reports and was quoted as saying, “It’s like Chinese Whispers. One paper writes something without proof and others follow. We are fine, thank God.” (Also Read: Riteish Deshmukh Recalls How His Ego Was Slightly Hurt On Being Called 'Genelia's Husband' [VIDEO])
