Ben Shelton Forgets To Thank GF, Trinity Rodman, Her Reaction Goes Viral As Fans Say 'Criminal Work'

Ben Shelton secured one of the biggest wins of his career at the US Open, ending Carlos Alcaraz's title defense after a marathon five-set battle. While everyone has been congratulating him on the win, a moment after the victory has now drawn attention. Moments after the American's memorable victory, Ben gave a speech and shouted out his loved ones. However, it appears he forgot his girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, and she made sure her feelings were known.

Ben Shelton defeated Carlos Alcaraz 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (10-7) in a thrilling fourth-round clash that lasted four hours and 28 minutes on Wednesday, September 9, 2027. The match also made history by being the latest-finishing match in the US Open. While the match was a crowd-pleaser, Ben's post-match comment caught everyone's attention. 

After the match, Ben Shelton was asked about the people supporting him and said he hoped his best friend and sister wouldn't have to be at work at 6 a.m. He said, "I'm just hoping my best friend and sister over there don't have to be at work at 6 AM in three hours." However, the lack of Trinity Rodman's mention led to a hilarious reaction from Trinity, who was watching from the stands. "What about me??" Trinity Rodman responded playfully, making it clear she was there to support her boyfriend during his late-night battle.

After the video went viral, netizens flooded the comment section with reactions. A comment read, "Forgetting her in the shoutout is actually criminal work." Another said, "Trinity hitting him with the 'WHAT ABOUT ME??' like she just won the most important point of the match." A comment read, "He knows she doesn’t have work at 6 AM!  I actually was wondering if he meant her when he said 'my best friend'." 

For those who don't know, Trinity Rodman is more than just Ben Shelton's famous girlfriend. She has already established herself as one of the biggest stars in American women's soccer. She plays professionally for the Washington Spirit and has also represented the United States on the international stage. Trinity joined the U.S. Women's National Team in 2022 and was part of the squad that won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Ben Shelton had little time to celebrate after the big win. The 22-year-old fired a 146 mph ace on match point, sealing a victory that ended Carlos Alcaraz's 18-match Grand Slam winning streak. Reflecting on the exhausting encounter, Ben admitted he was bone dry after battling Carlos for more than four hours. He said:

"I'm tired. It was a war. Carlos is one of the greatest champions of our sport. It was the most enjoyable match I've had in my career, for sure." 

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz also said he was proud of himself even though he lost the game. His 18-match winning streak in Grand Slam tournaments ended in a match that lasted 4 hours, 28 minutes, after he fought deep into the night and early into the next morning in a bid to get his hands on the trophy again. He shared that while it was close, he was disappointed he didn't get the win in the end. He further added:

"But I'm happy; I am proud of myself about how I fought. As I said, physically I was really tired, but I found a way to push myself."
