Batwara 1947 cast fees revealed
The film has an ensemble star cast with Sunny Deol in the lead. The film's story is set against the most traumatic events in the history of India, which was the partition. It is going to be released in August 2026. As per reports, the film is made on a budget of Rs 150 crore. Some even claim that it is made on Rs. 60-65 crore.
However, the details of the budget have not yet been shared by Aamir Khan Productions or the makers. Talking about the cast fees, the reports are rife that Sunny Deol took home the highest pay cheque. It is reported that Sunny Deol charged Rs. 60 crore for his role in Batwara 1947.
Sunny has already been riding high with his back-to-back successes such as Gadar 2 and Border 2. With his work, Sunny Deol has re-established himself as the most bankable actor of Bollywood. Some even claim that his contract might also include profit-sharing arrangements on top of the base fee.
Preity Zinta, who is also playing an important role in the film and is reported to have charged Rs. 10 crore for her character. Ali Fazal will also charge Rs. 7 crore. On the other hand, Abhimanyu Singh took home a pay cheque of Rs. 2 crore.
Talking about the character, the film revolved around the courage shown at the time when the world was torn apart. The film was backed by Aamir Khan Productions and is set during the Indian and Pakistan partition, which marked mass migration, communal violence and the displacement of many people after the end of the British Raj.
As soon as the trailer was released on July 28, 2026, fans expressed their opinion on the same. One user wrote, "It's okay to release a nationalist or historic movie every other year but if you make too many of them people eventually lose interest." Another one wrote, "Why does it look so polished as if someone did overcorrection on every single shot, lacks the cinematic feel, looks like a TV serial."
A third one commented, "Iski gaadi abhi tak azaadi se aage nahi badhi hai. Ye log bore nhi hote kya same event pe 3 baar picture bana rahe hai and with same actor lol." Another user penned, "This looks really good and Shabana Azmi (who actually is the anchor of the story) is excellent casting. Looking forward."
A user on YouTube penned, "Na Wo Ghar Dekhnege...Na Wo Sarhad...Sidha Ghus Ke Marenge... Goosebumps Batwara 1947." Another penned, "Maa ko Hindu - Muslman me na baate...Maa khud me ek majhab hai What a line yaar. Goosebumps Bangeeer." A user mentioned, "I have waited 33 years for my dream to see Sunny Deol & Rajkumar Santoshi together. Finally it will come true with Batwara 1947."
Judging by the trailer, Sunny Deol is playing a Muslim man and Preity Zinta is his wife. The couple left India after partition to make a new home in Pakistan. The home they were allotted was owned by a Hindu woman who refuses to leave her place, and out of humanity, they also find a connection with her, so much so that they vow to protect her.
