However, his health had deteriorated on February 15, 2022, and on February 16, 2022, Bappi Lahiri had passed away, leaving behind an unmatchable legacy. Bappi Lahiri and his wife, Chitrani Lahiri's son, Bappa Lahiri, returned from the US for his father's last rites and looked absolutely devastated at the airport. Also, a rare picture of Bappi Lahiri's daughter, Rema Lahiri, made everyone cry, as she looked inconsolable. Indeed, it's a massive loss for their family and the Indian music industry. Also, a video from Bappi Lahiri's last darshan surfaced on social media, and it's heartbreaking.
A few moments back, we stumbled upon multiple videos from Bappi Lahiri's antim darshan, and one look at any of them simply breaks our heart in pieces. From Bappa Lahiri carrying his father along with some other family members for the late singer's final rites to watching his sister, Rema Lahiri, being completely inconsolable, it speaks everything about the complexity of life. Bappi Lahiri was extremely close to his children, Bappa and Rema, and had always treated them like friends. In 1969, his debut film, Dadu as a music director, had released. However, his songs, I Am A Disco Dancer, Raat Baaki, Pag Ghoongroo, are still considered party anthems. Bappi Lahiri has given some incredibly famous tracks in the late 1970s-80s in the films like Disco Dancer, Sharaabi, Chalte Chalte, and the list goes on.
When the whole nation was mourning the loss, late Bappi Lahiri's grandson, Swastik Bansal, had taken to his Instagram handle and had expressed his grief through a post. Swastik had shared a beautiful picture of his dadu and had penned an emotional note dedicated to him. Atop it, he had written:
"Miss you so much dadu. Rest in peace. Love you. RIP (with a folded hand emoji) 1952-2022)."
