The news of Aubrey’s pregnancy was confirmed just a few months back by her representative on April 7, 2026. The announcement had left several fans shocked at the time as it came roughly a year after the tragic death of her ex-husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, who passed away in January 2025. The timing of the pregnancy announcement led to cheating allegations against Aubrey.
Jeff Baena’s brother accused Aubrey Plaza of cheating
Aubrey Plaza had found herself in the middle of online speculation after a now-deleted social media post that was made by her late husband, Jeff Baena's brother. In the Facebook post, Brad Baena allegedly called Aubrey a cheater after she announced that she was expecting her first baby with Christopher Abbott. Jeff Baena took his own life on January 3, 2025, at his Los Angeles home. He was 47 years old at the time of his death. His suicide had prompted an outpouring of sympathy from his colleagues across the film industry.
Chastising his former sister-in-law for the timing of the pregnancy news, Brad had shared a news report on Aubrey with the text atop it reading, “Once a cheater, always a cheater,” followed by “Instant Karma.” The message suggested that there's a chance Aubrey and Christopher Abbott’s relationship began before her separation from her ex-husband.
However, the post was soon deleted after drawing criticism from some fans. It is worth mentioning that despite the post being deleted, screenshots of the message continued to spread on various social media platforms like wildfire, leaving netizens to wonder if Aubrey Plaza really cheated like Brad Baena allegedly accused her of.
Later, Brad shared a few more posts with such sentiments on Facebook. One post read, “People know exactly what they are doing. End of story,” with the word “Karma” added at the bottom. Another post read:

Talking about Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena's relationship, the duo was married for four years after spending over a decade together as partners. They had a quiet separation in September 2024. Before the separation, the former couple was reportedly ‘experiencing marital difficulties.’ Following this, Aubrey relocated to New York, while Jeff stayed in Los Angeles.

According to reports, Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in late July 2026. The same was shared by an insider who spoke to TMZ. Aubrey was also spotted with her baby girl in New York City on August 9, 2026, after they watched Chris’ Death of a Salesman.
Notably, when Aubrey’s reps had confirmed her pregnancy in April 2026, they claimed that the news had been a ‘beautiful surprise’ for the actress following a rather emotionally overwhelming year. As per sources close to Aubrey and Chris, the couple had expressed feeling “blessed” when they found out the good news. Since then, Aubrey had been spotted a number of times flaunting her baby bump while out and about, wearing her maternity fits.
