Suneil Shetty's latest remark on Dance Deewane led to murmurs of his daughter, Athiya Shetty's pregnancy. For those who don't know, Athiya Shetty is married to Indian cricketer, KL Rahul. The couple tied the knot in 2023, after dating secretly for four years. However, the couple always kept their relationship away from media glares and never divulged the details of their love story.
On April 1, 2024, Athiya took to her Instagram handle and posted the first picture after murmurs of her pregnancy circulated in the media. The actress shared an unseen childhood picture, in which she was donning a dress and flaunting a fringe hairstyle, which was a rage back then. Along with the monochrome photo, Athiya wrote:
"Cute but Scorpio."

Suniel Shetty, who is a judge on the dance reality show, Dance Deewane, gave a casual statement. It soon created a stir in the media, and the report of his daughter, Athiya's pregnancy went viral. It all started when, during the grandparent's special episode, Bharti told Suniel that he has to behave when he becomes a grandfather, as no kid can handle such a cool grandparent. To which, Suniel said:
“Yes next season when I come I will be walking on the stage like a Nana.”
Suniel's statement instantly went viral, and people started wondering if his daughter, Athiya Shetty, was going to become a mother. Soon, people started speculating if Athiya and KL Rahul had chosen to keep their pregnancy under wraps like Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli. The rumour got more fire after some people pointed out how Athiya's public appearance has become limited.
After media started speculating about Athiya's pregnancy, a source close the the couple revealed the truth. The source clearly stated that the rumours are false, and rubbish. The source talked to the Hindustan Times about the ongoing pregnancy murmurs and called it a misinterpretation of Suneil's remark. The source said:
“There is no truth in the buzz. Suniel’s nana remark was said in a jest and in a very informal way. His remarks have been misinterpreted by all. It was a fun conversation, Suniel said it as a joke. Now, even he is surprised how his comment has been perceived by everyone. In fact, he didn’t want this buzz at all. It was unintentional. Several people haven’t seen the whole clip and are just assuming based on the reactions by social media users. He is shocked by all this."
