Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul are one of the cutest couples in Tinseltown. The duo, who aren’t much of a social butterfly, often mesmerise their fans with snippets from their real life fairytale romance. For the unversed, after keeping their relationship under wraps for the longest time, Athiya and KL Rahul got hitched on January 23, 2023, at former’s father, Suniel Shetty’s Lokhandwala bungalow in Mumbai, following South Indian rituals. A few days back, rumours suggested that the duo are expecting their first child soon. However, it seems the buzz was all incorrect.
A few days back, Suniel Shetty, during his stint on the reality show, Dance Deewane made a comic remark on becoming a nana. However, this immediately led to many believe that the actor’s daughter, Athiya might be expecting her first child with KL Rahul. And now, a source close to the couple, rubbished it all. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, the source called it a sheer misinterpretation and remarked:
“There is no truth in the buzz. Suniel’s nana remark was said in a jest and in a very informal way. His remarks have been misinterpreted by all. It was a fun conversation, Suniel said it as a joke. Now, even he is surprised how his comment has been perceived by everyone. In fact, he didn’t want this buzz at all. It was unintentional. Several people haven’t seen the whole clip and are just assuming based on the reactions by social media users. He is shocked by all this”

Moving further in the statement, the insider mentioned that the couple, Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul are still soaking in their newly married bliss and are happy at this stage. While they plan to welcome kids into their lives sometime in the future, there is no hurry about it soon. The insider further revealed:
“They both are happily married, and enjoying this phase of life. They want to expand their family at some point of life, but they are enjoying this phase of life. At the moment, there is no truth to the pregnancy speculation. They will announce the news and share their happiness with everyone, as and when it happens. The family will come out and share -- because that is the nature of the Shetty family. For now, they just want the joke to be taken as a joke, and not seriously”
Well, it all began when Suniel Shetty had a fun banter with comedienne, Bharti Singh on the show, Dance Deewane. The particular episode of the show was dedicated to grandparents, as a result, Bharti ended up remarking how Suniel should behave once he becomes a nana or grandfather, since no kid can handle such a cool and casual persona. To this, Suniel made a witty statement, which made many think otherwise. He said:
“Yes next season when I come I will be walking on the stage like a Nana.”

Athiya Shetty is a doting wifey and the best cheerleader for her husband and cricketer, KL Rahul’s successes at the cricketing field. Every now and then, the star-wife is seen showering a lot of love and support to her husband, when he scores huge in the sport. Previously, in an interaction with Star Sports, KL Rahul spoke about her wifey being a little superstitious. Explaining the reason behind such a remark, the cricketer mentioned that Athiya has a certain lucky spot in their home, where she sits and watches him play, rather than joining him in the stadium itself.
