Reflecting on their long association, Zeenat wrote that Asha's voice had, in many ways, helped shape her own success on screen. But one particular encounter gave her a deeper understanding of Asha's personality. The two were scheduled to appear at a musical evening in Kolkata when she saw Asha arrive looking visibly injured. She wrote:
"When Ashaji arrived, I was horrified to see that she was covered in bruises and nicks."
She soon learned that the singer had been involved in an accident the previous day. For many people, especially someone already well into their 80s, that would have been reason enough to cancel the appearance and recover. But for 'Asha ji,' it was different. She was determined not to break her commitment despite the accident.
Despite her visible bruises, the veteran singer not only took the mic but, as Zeenat recalled, took the audience by storm with her electric performance. She kept the crowd captivated for hours, leaving Zeenat deeply impressed by her resilience and professionalism. The actress wrote:
"Lo and behold, she took the stage by storm and kept the giddy audience in her thrall for many hours. Mind you, Asha ji was well into her 80s by this point, and it’s safe to say I left the event both impressed and inspired."
