Asha Bhosle was one of the most iconic singers of Bollywood. She was known for her exceptional and versatile singing. In a career spanning over eight decades, Asha sang songs in many languages. The iconic singer passed away at the age of 92 on April 12, 2026, after suffering a chest infection. Apart from her singing, Asha was also hailed for her fearless attitude. She was hailed for never mincing her words.
Asha Bhosle once got angry with Himesh Reshammiya for his take on her husband, RD Burman. The incident took place in 2006, when Himesh was accused of singing nasally, and he defended himself by saying that even RD Burman had a nasal twang, but he was never criticised for it.

Himesh’s remark about RD Burman having a nasal twang didn’t sit well with Asha, who made sure to respond. Without mincing her words, Asha reacted to Himesh’s claims and said, ‘If anyone says Burman saab sang through his nose, he should be slapped.”

Asha Bhosle’s reaction to Himesh Reshammiya’s remark sparked a huge controversy. As RD Burman was one of the most respected singers and composers, Himesh's take on him sparked significant backlash. On the other hand, Himesh accepted his mistake and apologised to Asha Bhosle. Speaking about the same, he said:
“It was never my intention to insult Pancham-da (Burman). I only wanted to prove a point. Now, I realise I made a mistake. I should’ve never brought in the names of these greats in my argument. It was a mistake. I respect and admire Lata-ji and Asha-ji. To me they’re the pillars of the music industry. If I’ve unintentionally hurt Asha-ji, I want to apologise profusely. My upbringing won’t permit me to offend people who are far more distinguished and senior than I can ever be.”

On April 11, 2026, Asha Bhosle was rushed to the Breach Candy Hospital after she suffered cardiac and respiratory issues.
