Agastya Nanda’s much-awaited film, Ikkis, is all set to release on January 1, 2026. The makers recently held a special screening of the film, which was attended by many A-list celebrities. In the film, Agastya Nanda will portray Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra in history. During the film's screening, Arun’s brother, Mukesh Khetarpal, became emotional.

Arun Khetarpal’s brother couldn’t stop crying while watching Ikkis

While watching Ikkis, Arun Khetarpal’s brother, Mukesh Khetarpal, became emotional and was seen wiping tears during several scenes. In a video shared on Instagram, PVR Cinemas showed Mukesh becoming emotional. After the screening, he spoke to the director, Sriram Raghavan, and said:

“My grouse is you made me cry. You made me relive... Certain things were in my mind, and moment by moment, when I saw it on screen, I got so emotional I couldn't stop crying. Now that I have seen the movie, I mean, the movie is 10 times or maybe 20 times or 100 times what we see in the trailer. Oh, fantastic!"

Mukesh Khetarpal praises Agastya Nanda’s performance in Ikkis

In the same video, Mukesh Khetarpal heaped praises on Agastya Nanda for portraying the role of Arun Khetarpal. A visibly emotional Mukesh told Agastya that he will be Arun for him forever. In his words:

“Whatever else you are, you will be Arun for life. There is no taking that away from you. Well done!"

Ikkis early reviews

Ikkis is produced by Maddock Films and directed by Sriram Raghavan. Agastya Nanda plays the central character of Arun Khetarpal, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra after being martyred at the age of 21 during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Dharmendra played the role of 'Brigadier M. L. Khetarpal', the father of 21-year-old martyred Indian army officer, Arun Khetarpal.

After the special screening of Ikkis, casting director Mukesh Chhabra shared his thoughts on the film. Mukesh took to his X account, and the film was made with honesty. Seeing Dharmendra in his last appearance broke many hearts. He also praised the stellar performances of Agastya, Simar, Jaideep Ahlawat, Vivan Shah, and Sikandar Kher.

Who was Arun Khetarpal?

Arun Khetarpal was the eldest of the two sons of Lt. Brigadier M.L. Khetarpal. In June 1967, Arun joined the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. During the fierce India-Pakistan War of 1971, Arun Khetarpal showed his bravery. When his tank caught fire, he was given orders to abandon it. As per the Army eye witnesses, the young officer fought till his last breath and destroyed 10 enemy tanks.
