Cricketer, Krishnappa Gowtham Announces Retirement, Wife, Archana Sundar Pens An Emotional Tribute

Indian cricketer, Krishnappa Gowtham has officially announced his retirement from all formats of cricket, which has left his fans heartbroken. For the unversed, Krishnappa is an all-rounder and a popular player in IPL. Over the years, he has played for Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants. Well, now that he has announced his retirement, his wife, Archana Sundar has penned a heartfelt tribute for him.

Archana Sundar pens an emotional tribute for Krishnappa Gowtham

On December 22, 2025, all-rounder, Krishnappa Gowtham announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. Moments after the news went viral, his wife, Archana Sundar, penned an emotional and heartfelt tribute for him. In her note, Archana recalled the early struggles of Krishnappa and shared:

"Dear husband, I have seen your journey long before the applause, long before the packed stadiums and the cheers. from the days before the state cap-when it was just you, your kit bag, and an empty ground-practising with nothing but belief. I've watched you choose discipline over comfort, early mornings over sleep, and patience over shortcuts. Time and again, when the odds were stacked against you, you found a way back. comeback after comeback, carrying not just a bat and ball, but the hopes of everyone around you."

She continued to mention the dedication and inspiration of Krishnappa Gowtham. Archana Sundar shared that as a cricketer, Krishnappa has lifted a lot of players, but he has done a lot more as a human being. She also revealed that Krishnappa's retirement is the closing chapter of "sacrifice and glory" for her. An extract from her note can be read as:

"That belief is what set you apart and continues to inspire everyone around you. As a teammate, you lifted others and stood tall. As a human being, you went above and beyond. Cricket may call this "retirement from active play," but for me, it's the closing of one chapter of grit, sacrifice, and glory and the beginning of another, built on the same values that brought you here. No matter where life takes us next, always remember this: you have won hearts, respect, and a legacy that will outlive scorecards. I am endlessly proud of you. Always have been. Always will be. Well played, my champion."

Krishnappa Gowtham announced retirement

For those who don’t know, popular player, Krishnappa Gowtham took to his Instagram handle on December 22, 2025, to share the heartbreaking news of his retirement. He had shared a long note, in which he revisited his cricket days and recalled the good times from the same. A part of his note can be read as:

"I would like to let you know that I have decided to retire from first-class and international cricket. It has been a matter of immense pride and joy to represent my country and Karnataka. I have been a man of comebacks, returning from the brink on more than one occasion, and I could have done so again. However, had I worked my way back into the Karnataka team, it would have been unfair to the youngsters, who are the future of the game."

Reportedly, she is a homemaker and is often seen cheering for her husband during matches. It is worth mentioning, the couple dated for around nine years before getting married in 2019.
