The year 2021 had begun on an overwhelming note for Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma as the couple had welcomed a little angel in their lives. After innumerous pregnancy speculations and several clarifications over the two-and-a-half-years of Anushka and Virat’s married life, Virushka had finally made their fans feel over the moon with the announcement of their pregnancy in August 2020. “And then, we were three! Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma had maintained privacy surrounding their daughter and even asked the paparazzi to not post any content related to their daughter. To announce the arrival of their baby girl, Virat had written, "We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat."
Since that day, Virushka fans have been waiting with bated breath to get a glimpse of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s newborn daughter. The wait has finally come to an end as Anushka posted their first-ever family picture and announced the name of their newborn daughter. Anushka captioned the post as “We have lived together with love, presence and gratitude as a way of life but this little one , Vamika has taken it to a whole new level! Tears, laughter , worry , bliss - emotions that have been experienced in a span of minutes sometimes! Sleep is elusive but our hearts are SO full. Thanking you all for your wishes , prayers and good energy.”
In a pre-delivery interview with the Vogue, Anushka Sharma had clarified that their newborn child won’t be engaged on social media. To begin with, Anushka had revealed that her parents are extremely honest and very hard-working, the attributes that Virat Kohli shares as well. On how they want to nurture their child and not raise brats, Anushka had said, “There are so many similarities in the way we are as people and the way we approach life. So, I do think that will work for us. I’ve been thinking about it before I even became a parent. Conditioning is the most important role in how we see the world. I come from a progressive background, so that will always be a part of our home. Love is the underlying factor in our home, and what’s important to us is that our child be respectful of people. Unequivocal about retaining a sense of normalcy and privacy, Anushka Sharma had continued, “We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through.” Speaking of how the last few months of her pregnancy were, Anushka had added, “We’re all used to it now, no? It feels somewhat normal to stay indoors. But I have had to be a lot more careful. It was good to travel to Dubai and stay in a secure bubble—probably the safest in the world at that time— but yes, I’m only seeing my parents now, and I haven’t met my friends for the longest time.”
In an interview to RCB Bold Diaries, on the YouTube channel of the IPL team he represents, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli had revealed his and Anushka Sharma’s reaction when they found out about her pregnancy and his feelings on becoming a father. Virat had then expressed, “It is an incredible feeling. It puts things into perspective for you. It is a beautiful feeling. It is difficult to describe how you feel, but when we found it, we were over the moon. When we announced, the kind of love that was showered on us it was amazing. People were genuinely so emotional and happy for us.
