Super Dancer 3, a kids' dance reality television series, has been dominating all the headlines soon after a video containing 'inappropriate content' made its way to social media. For the unversed, an old video of the dance reality show, which aired back in 2018-2019, has been going massively viral on the internet, wherein the judges of the show, Geeta Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, and Anurag Basu were seen asking a kid some inappropriate question. The video didn't take much time to reach the authorities. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken action against the same and even slammed the judges of the reality show. Amid all these, Anurag Basu finally opened up about the same.
In an interview with The Times of India, Anurag Basu shared that he will not defend what happened because, as a father of two kids, he can understand how embarrassing this was for the parents of the kid, who was asked an inappropriate question on the reality show. Anurag Basu further added that they shoot with the kids for hours, and as they are kids, they tend to say things innocently, over which no one has any control. Anurag added that he should not have directed the conversation toward such a thing that led that kid to say things that embarrassed his parents. Anurag Basu can be quoted as saying:
"I will not defend this because I understand how embarrassing this was for the parents, and I am a father of two kids myself. Super Dancer is a kids’ dance reality show, and children often say things innocently. We shoot with them for hours, and they say so many things, which are sometimes not in anyone’s control. I agree that I should not have directed the conversation towards something that led the contestant to say things that embarrassed his parents."

In the same interview, Anurag Basu shared that the judges should have responsibilities and they should always create a line to ask questions to the minor contestants, who often say things innocently that may not be appropriate, so it's needed that the judges interact with them carefully. Anurag shared that after all this, he thinks kids will too be cautious about saying anything. He shared that he is speaking up as a judge of a reality show and not on behalf of the channel, as he felt it was his responsibility to clear the buzz as the video has gone viral. Anurag mentioned:
"I also feel that we should draw a line when it comes to asking questions to contestants. It is important to be careful while interacting with children because they innocently say things that may not be appropriate. So, ideally, this part could have been edited, but that was not in my control... It is important that we, as judges, exercise this responsibility and be cautious in the questions we ask. I think after this, the kids too will be cautious while saying anything. It is important that such things don’t happen. This is my personal opinion. I am speaking here as a judge of a reality show and not on behalf of the channel. I felt it was my responsibility to clear the air because I am aware that this clip has gone viral.”
In the old video that brought trouble for the reality show, the three judges could be seen asking a kid some vulgar questions about his father. To which the kid revealed his father’s underwear and bedroom talks between his parents, which left the audience shocked. The parents of the kid were seen as uncomfortable with such inappropriate questions asked by the judges on television.

After the video from the reality show started surfacing on the internet, it created a buzz. Soon The NCPCR sent a notice to Sony Pictures and Network to remove the episode. They also asked for an explanation from the production house about such inappropriate content. The notice from NCPCR could be read as:
"The Commission has come across a video on Twitter from your kid's dance show called Super Dancer: Chapter 3 which was aired on Sony Entertainment Television, wherein it is seen that the judges on the show were asking the minor child vulgar and sexually explicit questions regarding his parents on stage."
As per NCPCR, the network's actions have violated provisions under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the Information Technology Act, 2000, as well as the Commission's guidelines on child and adolescent participation in the entertainment industry.
