Anne Hathaway Had Miscarriage While Playing 'Pregnant Woman' During A Play, 'Broke My Heart..'

Anne Hathaway is all set to embrace motherhood for the third time. The gorgeous actress had to reveal her pregnancy while she was on a vacation after she spotted a photographer capturing her baby bump during her beach outing. However, in order to make it personal and announce the news on her own terms, she made an early announcement.

It is worth noting that Anne's journey to embrace motherhood wasn't easy. She suffered a miscarriage in 2015, which broke her to the core. But the zeal to embrace the journey kept her going, and she welcomed her first child in 2016, followed by another in 2019. And now, the family of four is going to welcome another miracle. 

Anne Hathaway suffered a miscarriage 

Earlier, in an interaction, Anne had talked about her miscarriage. She stated that she got pregnant for the first time in 2015, and the coincidence was that she was also acting as a pregnant woman during a play at the same time. However, it didn't go well, and she had a miscarriage in the sixth week. Anne tried to pretend that everything was fine, but it wasn't, and she bared her true feelings backstage when her friends visited her. She was quoted as saying:

"I was doing a play and I had to give birth on stage every night."

Anne Hathaway stated that she kept it real with friends when they visited her and told them how it was extremely difficult to pretend. She had to put up a strong face, act pregnant, and give birth while she had a miscarriage, which was too much. She added that when it didn't go well with her, she made sure to tell others that it was okay. She stated:

"So when it did go well for me, having been on the other side of it - where you have to have the grace to be happy for someone - I wanted to let my sisters know, 'You don't have to always be graceful. I see you and I've been you. It's really hard to want something so much and to wonder if you're doing something wrong." 

During her second pregnancy, Anne announced it with an Instagram post and stated that it is not a movie. She further highlighted that it wasn't an easy journey for her, and she feels for all those who have been struggling with infertility and conception. She sent them love. In another interaction, Anne revealed that she feels the pain of all those who are trying to get pregnant. She said:

"Given the pain I felt while trying to get pregnant, it would've felt disingenuous to post something all the way happy when I know the story is much more nuanced than that for everyone."

On June 19, 2026, Anne took to her Instagram handle and shared the most adorable pregnancy announcement. In the clip, Anne moved into the camera frame with a gorgeous fireplace backdrop. She held her hands on her tummy, and one could not guess that she was concealing a baby bump. However, when she lifted her hands away and showed her baby bump, the fans found out about her little miracle arriving soon. Anne blushed and walked out of the frame. It was by far the cutest pregnancy announcement. Sharing the video, Anne wrote:

"Baby, I’m yours."
