Every TV buff was a fan of the on-screen chemistry of Manav Deshmukh and Archana Deshmukh and had found their rishta as pavitra as the name of the show. Soon their fans' wishes had come true when Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande had begun dating in real-life. Pavitra Rishta was a breakthrough for Sushant and Ankita and since then, their careers had skyrocketed to the peak. While there was no looking back for them on professional front but in the personal life, things had gone downhill when Ankita and Sushant had decided to part ways, leaving their fans heartbroken.
While Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande had moved on in their personal lives, destiny had a tragedy in store. On June 14, 2020, Sushant was found dead in his apartment and reportedly his depression was the reason behind him feeling that suicide was his only way out. His demise had not only shattered the industry, his friends but his family too. Even his ex, Ankita is devastated with the news and a day after the last rites of Sushant, she paid a visit to his family at his Mumbai residence.
Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande's Pavitra Rishta co-star, Prarthana Behere, revealed in a Times Of India interview, how the late actor's ex has reacted to the news. When the reports of Sushant suicide had circulated on their Pavitra Rishta WhatsApp groups, Prarthana had called Ankita and narrating the situation, said, "The messages started flashing on our Pavitra Rishta Whatsapp group and I saw very late. It took me time to figure out what is happening. So, I called up Ankita and she was crying and I was completely clueless whom should I call now. Then I called Mahesh Shetty, he was also crying and he was going to see him. I asked him if even I should come along because he was our friend yaar. It doesn't matter we were not in touch with each other since last 5 years but we have spent such a lovely time together. I treated him as my elder brother." While the social media and media is commenting and blaming on his ex Ankita Lokhande not commenting on the tragedy or putting up anything on social media, Prarthana Behere requested everyone to stop judging her, "I can tell this about Ankita, she is devastated and crying like hell, but one needs to understand everyone had moved on in their life. News sunne ke baad woh wahin atki paddi hai... But she has someone in her life now and she has to respect that relationship also. She wanted to go, but everyone knows she is very emotional and sensitive. She is crying and how. When I posted on the Pavitra Rishta group let's go and see Sushant for the last time, then we got to know that only 20 people can attend the funeral."
Revealing that she had maintained a distance from Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande because of the awkwardness post their breakup, Prarthana Behere continued, "We were not in touch with each other since last 4/5 years after Ankita and he broke up. I felt very awkward and I maintained a distance at that point of time as I din't want to enter their personal space. I am also a January born so I know how it feels. Sushant was like that he needed his space. I had told him I totally understand your mindset so I gave him that space. But I had told him whenever you need me I am always there. Then later he started doing so well in Bollywood and his friend's circle changed and his lifestyle changed. He started working in big films and we lost touch. But yes it is heartbreaking. He was an inspiration for me, I wanted to be like him, he taught me so much. We started our careers together. He would always appreciate my work. He was so positive in life."
Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande have been the talk of the town for many years and post his demise, his stylist, Leepakshi Yellawadi had spilt some beans on how he had felt indebted to his ex-girlfriend. In an interview with ETimes, Leepakshi revealed how Sushant had felt indebted to Ankita for supporting him during his struggling days. She had said, “When we were talking he told me how indebted he was to his ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. According to him, she supported him very much when they were on television and during their struggling days. He became a big star. This is a real quality in somebody to look back and even if you are not with that person, appreciate them for what they have done for you. Even though their relationship went sour, he had only good things to say about her. I was really fond of him. When I heard the news I was in disbelief and shaking. He had so many more stories to tell me. We all get busy.
