Indian actress, Rajshri Deshpande is hogging the limelight for her personal life. Recently, she shocked her fans by revealing that she has been battling infiltrating ductal carcinoma, a grade 1 breast cancer. In a recent interview, Rajshri shared that it’s been a month since she was diagnosed with cancer. She also opened up about the taboo related to cancer. A few days ago, Rajshri shared a post on her Instagram in which she explained in detail about her health condition.

Rajshri Deshpande reveals that she got to know about her breast cancer due to a routine check

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Rajshri Deshpande revealed that during a routine check, the doctors found the lesion. After knowing this, she moved from Aurangabad to Mumbai and met the doctors. A sonography test was repeated to confirm the root cause behind the lesion. After sonography, Rajshri did a biopsy. It was the biopsy test that confirmed she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was quoted as saying:

"I went and the doctors found the lesion. I moved from Aurangabad to Mumbai, met the doctors and got a sonography done again to confirm what it is. After sonography, I did my biopsy and then got the news."

Rajshri Deshpande urges women to prioritise breast check-ups and shares how cancer is still a taboo in today's society

Further in the conversation, Rajshri Deshpande shared that it’s unfortunate that many of her female friends had not got their breast check-up. She urged women to prioritise breast check-ups as they are necessary for them after they reach the age of 35. She also spoke about women in the village who don’t spend much time getting mammography done. Rajshri opened up about the taboo still prevalent in today’s society related to cancer. She was quoted as saying:

"It’s unfortunate, I called so many friends of mine, nobody had got their breast check-up done, which is necessary for every woman after the age of 35. Then the next thought was ‘let me check the facilities in the villages’. The women there are doing a lot of daily chores, they won’t come and spend so much time to get mammography done. Let’s just normalise this! It’s such a taboo that people send condolence-type messages like ‘Oh my God, so sorry’. But nowadays, with the medical facilities, atleast cancer gives you time to take some action."

Rajshri Deshpande got candid about her cancer diagnosis

On March 4, 2026, the Angry Indian Goddesses fame, Rajshri, took to her Instagram handle and shared a lengthy note revealing that she has been diagnosed with grade 1 breast cancer. Rajshri called her journey a rollercoaster ride as she underwent tons of tests and surgery. The Indian actress added that currently she is recovering and would soon head home from the hospital. She mentioned that when she saw her parents’ faces after her surgery, all her fears melted and turned into unbreakable strength. She wrote:

"I’ve finally found the courage to tell my parents that I have been diagnosed by Infiltrating ductal carcinoma (NOS) a grade 1 Breast cancer. Now it’s time you all know. We fortunately caught this early in a routine checkup which gave us a fighting chance. Tons of tests and surgery felt like a rollercoaster ride, but trust me it was everyone’s love and warmth that carried me through. And seeing my Aai and papa’s faces after surgery melted my fears into unbreakable strength. With everyone’s support I feel am ready to take on the world. Now, I’m recovering beautifully and soon heading home from the hospital."
