We know her as Shahana Arora from the web series, Bang Baaja Baaraat and Vicky Kaushal's love interest, Karina D'Souza in the film, Love per Square Foot. He, on the other hand, gained fame with his role of Saurabh Lamba in Aisha and Bunny in Go Goa Gone. They met each other on the sets of Bang Baaja Baaraat as she was an actor and he was the writer. Angira Dhar and Anand Tiwari's relationship of being co-workers beautifully transitioned into soulmates while working together on the web series, BBB and film, Love per Square Foot.
Angira Dhar and Anand Tiwari sealed their friendship forever in a secret wedding ceremony on April 30, 2021. To announce their marriage to the world, Angira and Anand posted their wedding picture on June 25. Anand had written, "On 30-04-21 Angira and I sealed our friendship into a marriage, with our family, closest friends and God as our witness. With life slowly unlocking around us, we wanted to unlock this happiness with you" in the caption.
Angira Dhar, a Kashmiri Hindu brought up in Mumbai, began her career with TV production before making her acting debut in 2013. Angira has been posting lovely pictures from her marriage and pre-wedding ceremonies post the announcement. In a series of pictures posted a few hours ago, Angira gave a glimpse of a Kashmiri ritual, in which one of her family members performed the tradition of giving the bride dejhar.
For the unversed, dejhar is an ear ornament worn by Kashmiri Brahman Pandit women and it is said to be given by the father to his daughter at her wedding. The girls get their concha pierced during childhood so that at the time of marriage, dejhar can be easily worn through the hole. For the ritual, Angira opted for a simple look, donning a golden-coloured kurta set. Angira kept her hair tied in two ponytails and a red bindi accentuating the look.
A few hours ago, Angira Dhar posted a picture from her vidaai and in split seconds, it has melted our hearts. Contrary to the usual vidaai pictures in which the brides cry their heart out, Angira's post was emotional as it featured her teary-eyed husband. In the picture, Angira wiped the tears of her husband, Anand Tiwari and captioned it as "You know you are in the right hands when it's not you who's tearing up at the vidaai."
In a throwback interview with Desi Martini, Angira Dhar was asked about how she landed up from Bang Baaja Baaraat to Love per Square Foot. She had retorted, "Anand Tiwari, the director of Bang Baaja Baarat also directed this film. We worked together and at that time I had no idea about this script. But much later, I got a call from Honey Trehan, who's the casting director of our film. I went through a 3-hour long audition and it was quite intense."
Anand Tiwari, in an interview with the Indian Express, had spoken about his journey from being an assistant director on Barfi to directing his own projects, "I don't plan too much. I only roughly know what I want to do as my current project or next project. I became an actor by accident. I was doing theatre, but I always wanted to be a filmmaker. I thought if I keep acting, I will be able around directors and learn from them. But I lucked out that I found Anurag Basu. So every director that I worked with after that, be it Vikramaditya Motwane, Raj and DK or Dibakar Banerjee, I was able to fully become their assistant on the days I wasn't acting. I was in their meetings. I was with them during pre-production, I was watching them direct other actors. That became my schooling. So every project I get to direct, I learn."
Heartiest congratulations to Angira and Anand!
