Amy Duggar Livid Over Cousin Joseph Duggar's Jail Calls With Wife, Kendra, 'She's Not Your Employee'

The Duggars have been constantly in the headlines since the 19 Kids and Counting family's seventh kid, Joseph Duggar, was arrested on March 18, 2026, for "lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor under 12" while on a family vacation with his then-pregnant wife, Kendra. The 31-year-old former reality star previously confessed to molesting a nine-year-old girl during the 2020 Florida vacation, and he is now facing serious charges in court. 

After Josepn's arrest, several audio clips from his prison calls with his family, especially with Kendra, have surfaced. Some of them have raised eyebrows, offering insights into the couple's seemingly problematic mindset even after facing such serious charges. Among those voicing their concerns is Joseph's cousin, Amy Duggar King. 

Amy Duggar slams Joseph Duggar for his approach towards his wife

Recently, Amy used her social media to raise concerns about her cousin's problematic mindset and how his wife, Kendra, responds to it. In a TikTok video released on Thursday, April 2, 2026, the 39-year-old cited one of the leaked jail calls where Joseph weirdly complimented Kendra as "competent", and the latter seemed flattered by it. Amy didn't mince her words, sharing her reaction to the audio. Taking to TikTok, she shared:

“You hear this? He called his wife ‘competent,’ and she took it as a compliment. Um, last time I checked, marriage isn’t a performance review, and she’s not your employee. And she’s not filing paperwork, so what the crap is that?” 

For Amy, the issue wasn’t just the word itself, but what it seemed to reveal about Joseph and Kendra's relationship. She further mentioned that it was "sad" to see Kendra’s reaction to the comment, wondering how low the bar must be that even such a basic compliment could be seen as meaningful validation. She added:

“I think that’s what happens when the bar is set so low. It’s so sad that it seems like she will accept any breadcrumb that comes her way, and that means that she’s probably been starving for a very long time."

The leaked conversations, which surfaced after Joseph’s March 18 arrest, offered a glimpse into his questionable dynamic with Kendra and their seemingly nonchalant behaviour during such high-pressure legal trouble. In case you missed it, Kendra, too, has been facing serious charges regarding child endangerment and false imprisonment, and she no longer has custody of her four kids with Joseph.

Inside Joseph and Kendra Duggar's mounting legal troubles

On March 31, 2026, Joseph was released from Bay County Jail after posting a USD 600,000 bond. Currently, he is out on pre-trial release and is back home with Kendra in Arkansas. He has been charged USD 500,000 for sexual molestation of a victim under 12, and an additional USD 100,000 for one count of lewd and lascivious conduct, as per Florida law. As part of his release conditions, Joseph must follow strict rules, including having only supervised contact with anyone under 18, even his own children and younger siblings.

Kendra, too, was arrested on March 20, 2026, after being charged with four counts of second-degree child endangerment and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment. These stemmed from the alleged mistreatment of her own four children, after officials found them locked inside their rooms and restricted their movement. While she was released hours later after paying a USD 1,470 bond, she is under strict no-contact orders with her kids until the case resolves.
