American Idol Star, Hannah Harper On Balancing Motherhood, 'Feeling Pulled In Too Many Directions'

Aspiring country singer-songwriter, Hannah Harper is one of the contestants in season 24 of American Idol. Way before making way into the 24th season of the singing reality show, Harper went viral with the song, String Cheese. The song made waves on social media as it talked about Hannah’s struggles with postpartum depression.

Hannah Harper talks about balancing motherhood and career

Harper’s viral song gave her a golden ticket for the initial auditions of American Idol season 24. Talking about her personal life, Harper is a mother of three kids and is currently balancing her motherhood journey and career. Ahead of her Ohana round performance, Harper took to her IG handle to host a Q&A session.

During the interaction, she was asked an array of questions about her personal life. When one of her fans asked her what she enjoys least about her life right now, Harper responded by penning about her struggles with managing motherhood and her career.  In her words:

“Feeling pulled in too many directions. Some days I wish there were two of me — one who could chase every music dream God has placed in my heart and another who could stay home and just be the mama she once was.”

In the same Q&A session, Harper was asked by a social media user about the show's behind-the-scenes and how she prepares for her performance. Harper revealed that the long working hours, during which she is not able to see her husband and kids, are the hardest part of being on the show. Reminding herself how the phase will pass, Harper shared:

“Long hours of hurry up and wait. The hardest part for me is being cooped up in a room, not able to see my husband & babies. I’m reminding myself it’s just temporary. That will NOT be our way of life outside of idol. I refuse”

How does Hannah Harper manage to participate in American Idol while caring for her kids?

For her American Idol journey, Harper credits her husband, Devon, for being a hands-on dad, as he took on household responsibilities along with caring for their kids. Apart from this, her extended family has also turned up to look after her three boys. Harper’s kids are currently enrolled in online schooling, and the flexibility has allowed her to pursue her dreams on American Idol.

Hannah Harper is one of the most loved contestants on American Idol season 24. The 25-year-old stay-at-home mother became a breakout contestant on the show, impressing judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie with her performances. While growing up, Harper spent seven years singing gospel music. Apart from earning a spot at Top 30 on American Idol, Harper is known for her emotional covers and heartfelt lyrics.
