Alka Yagnik Sparks Health Concerns As She Gets Honoured With Padma Bhushan, Fan Says, 'She Is Sick'

Legendary singer, Alka Yagnik is hogging the limelight as she gets honoured with the Padma Bhushan award for her remarkable contribution to the music world. On June 23, 2026, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Padma Awards 2026 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. However, Alka’s appearance at the award ceremony sparked health concerns. She went on stage with the help of a female volunteer. Earlier, this year, in March 2026, Alka opened up about her battle with the rare sensory neural hearing loss diagnosis.

The 60-year-old singer, Alka Yagnik received the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India, the Padma Bhushan, from President Droupadi Murmu on June 23, 2026. Soon after the ceremony video featuring Alka surfaced online, eagle-eyed fans became worried due to her frail appearance. She was seen taking help from a female volunteer as she walked to the stage. Before taking the stage to receive the Padma Bhushan Award, Alka was seen touching Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s feet.

Fans showered love on Alka Yagnik and wished her good health

Soon after Alka Yagnik’s video from the Award ceremony surfaced online, many fans became worried about her health. A user wrote, "Alka, she is sick?" Another user commented, "Omg. What happened to her health?" A fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Eminent playback singer 'Alka Yagnik' conferred with Padma Bhushan by President Droupadi Murmu. Just came to know that she is suffering from hearing loss. Very unfortunate." Another fan penned:

"As a kid, I didn't know much about singers. I only knew that whenever an Alka Yagnik song played, life somehow felt a little better. Years later, those songs are still part of my memories, road trips, celebrations, and quiet evenings. Seeing her receive the Padma Bhushan feels special. Wishing her strength and good health as she battles hearing loss. Some voices become part of our lives forever."

Alka Yagnik revealed why she could not take up new projects

Earlier, this year, in an interview with NDTV, the legendary singer admitted that she was suffering a lot due to her rare sensory neural hearing loss diagnosis. She opened up about her health condition and revealed that many composers approached her with work, but she could not take up the projects due to her health issue. She said, "Composers approach me now and then. But I am not able to do it."

Alka Yagnik was diagnosed with a rare sensory neural hearing loss in 2024

On June 17, 2024, Alka Yagnik opened up about her rare sensory neural hearing loss diagnosis. She revealed that for a few weeks, she couldn’t listen to anything at all. Alka mentioned that after gaining some courage, she came out to reveal why she was missing in action. An excerpt from her note can be read as:

"To all my fans, friends, followers and well-wishers.  A few weeks ago, as I walked out of a flight, I suddenly felt I was not able to hear anything.  Having mustered some courage in the weeks following the episode, I want to break my silence now for all my friends and well-wishers who have been asking me why I’m missing in action. It has been diagnosed by my docs as a rare sensory neural nerve hearing loss, due to a viral attack."

Further in the note, the veteran singer urged her fans to keep her in their prayers as she battled with the rare health condition. She ended her statement on a positive note. She added that her fans' support and understanding would mean the world to her during the difficult times.
