Alka Yagnik got married to Neeraj Kapoor in February 1989, and in the same year, they were blessed with a lovely daughter, whom they named Syesha Kapoor. Alka used to stay in Mumbai, courtesy her professional commitments while Neeraj lived in Shillong, so their daughter stayed with her mother. In 2017, Syesha got engaged to her beau, Amit Desai.
Syesha shared some pictures from her engagement ceremony with her fiancé, and sweetly captioned it, “Now I can finally say, #mine! 25-12-2017.” Syesha’s would-be-hubby, Amit posted pictures with both their families on his Instagram account. Sharing a picture with his lady-love, Amit wrote, "How can one not fall in love with that?"
After one year of engagement, Syesha and Amit tied the knot on December 12, 2018. While the bride looked gorgeous in her red lehenga, dulhe raja wore an ivory coloured sherwani. Syesha and Amit took to their Instagram handles to share their wedding pictures. Don’t they look adorable? Syesha and Amit’s pre-wedding festivities started on December 11, 2018, including haldi, sangeet, mehendi ceremonies, the couple tied the knot on December 12. Earlier, Syesha Kapoor was reportedly dating Indian Idol fame, Rahul Vaidya but the latter dismissed the rumours and had stated, “I am following a strict diet these days and since she is a restaurateur, she tells me how to go about it. That’s why we end up meeting often. I am not dating her.”
For the uninitiated ones, Alka Yagnik married a Shillong-based businessman, Neeraj Kapoor in 1989 but the couple has been in a long-distance marriage for more than 29 years. In 1986, Alka Yagnik and her mother had gone to New Delhi by train and the nephew of Alka’s mother’s friend, Neeraj Kapoor received them at the station early morning. After the exchange of a few glances, Neeraj and Alka remained in touch and their friendship grew for over six months and that is when they realised to take another step in their relationship.
Speaking about their marriage and long-distance pros and cons, Alka shared in an interview, “The basic bond was always there. I’ll not lie and say that I’ve never got attracted to people. But I didn’t get carried away. My values are strong. I also believe one’s dignity lies in one’s hands. I don’t believe in frivolous behaviour. Our marriage can be summed up in the U2 song ‘Can’t live with or without you’. It’s been a difficult marriage to hold on to.
