Alia had even gone on record on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan, and confessed that if given a chance she would marry Ranbir Kapoor. And, as they say, destiny played its part, and they fell in love while working for their first film together, Brahmastra. The world was abuzz with their PDA and gossipmongers couldn’t stop gushing over this in-love couple.
On March 23, 2019, the couple attended the Filmfare Awards 2019 in Mumbai and it was their display of love that made headlines. When Alia bagged the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi, she showcased her love for Ranbir on the stage. She accepted the award with some heart-touching word for the entire team of Raazi, and her beau, Ranbir. In her winning speech, she said, “Meghna, for me, 'Raazi' is you, your blood and sweat. You are my main chick. Vicky, without you, the film wouldn’t be complete. Thank you, my mentor, Karan for being my mentor, father, and my fashion police.” However, the highlight of the night was when she called Ranbir her ‘special one’. Recently, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Alia had cleared the air surrounding her rumoured marriage with Ranbir. She had said, “Not at all! I feel it’s all unnecessary chatter. You have to understand that personal life is called ‘personal’ for a reason. In fact, that’s why, not many speak up about their relationships. She had further added, “It has even reached my fans. So, sometimes, when I interact with them on social media, they also ask me when I am getting married. And I am like, ‘why are you asking me this? Have I said anything? Have I given a feeler?’ No. Since it has been a “season of marriages”, everyone expects that I might also do the same.”
Alia had also opened up about her thoughts on marriage, and had shared, “But marriage is something that hasn’t even crossed my mind. I am not averse to it. But it’s not a part of my plan right now. I have a lot of work to do. It’s not as if I won’t work post marriage, whenever it happens. But right now, my focus is just on work. My priorities will probably shift in time. As of now, it hasn’t.”
For those who don’t know, in a throwback interview, Alia had recalled her first, rather embarrassing conversation with Ranbir. She had said, “I remember the first time I spoke to Ranbir. You (Karan Johar) called him up when Rockstar just released and you said, ‘Here, talk to Ranbir. Tell him how much you love him’. And I spoke so much rubbish.
