Alexa Demie Reveals The One Sex Scene She Wasn't Comfortable Filming In Euphoria, 'I Don't Love...'

American actress, Alexa Demie has effortlessly portrayed her character ‘Maddy Perez’ in the television series, Euphoria. Apart from the popular teen show, Maddy was also hailed for her roles in films like Brigsby Bear, Mid90s and Waves. In Euphoria, Demie stars as a popular teenager, 'Maddy', in an abusive, on-and-off relationship with ‘Nate Jacobs’, played by Jacob Elordi.

Alexa Demie reveals the one sex scene in Euphoria, which made her uncomfortable

HBO series’ Euphoria features highly sexual scenes, and Demi spoke about the same in a recent interaction with the Hollywood Reporter. In the interview, Demi spoke about her apprehension about the intimate scene and also revealed how a particular sex scene made her uncomfortable. The scene in question is when the character indulges in sex with multiple men.

In an episode, Demie’s character, 'Maddie', cheats on her boyfriend, Nate, with multiple men, including a stockbroker and a roller-rink employee. Speaking about the same, she shared:

“I’m not saying I don’t love sex, and I think it can be portrayed beautifully and I know the show is portraying the life of teenage girls. But once I did it, I realized, ‘OK, I don’t love how this feels.’ So I said something, and everyone was empathetic, and I never did that again.”

In the same interaction, Demie also shared that she feared losing her part in the popular show if she showed her unwillingness to nudity and sex scenes. But Demi also shared that the show’s writer and creator, Sam Levinson, was kind enough to address her concerns, and despite long working hours, the shooting was enjoyable.

Is Alexa Demie retiring from acting after her stint in Euphoria?

Post the final episode of Euphoria season 3, there had been rumours that Demie is retiring from the showbiz as her journey as 'Maddy Perez' comes to an end. According to The Hollywood Reporter, rumours about Demie leaving acting and retiring originated from comments she made during a 2020 interview. At that time, the actor reflected on her struggles before landing her breakthrough role in 'Euphoria'.

Demie recalled becoming frustrated with the audition opportunities that favoured white actors for lead roles. Since Demie was half-Mexican, she questioned where Latina performers fit within the industry. During that time, Demie revealed that she considered walking away from acting, but pointed out that she never truly intended to quit. As rumours of her taking a break and quitting acting surfaced, Demie clarified the same and dismissed the rumours.  Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, she shared:

“There are goals, and things that I want, but I'm choosing to keep that private. I like my life like this, and I wouldn't change it."

Euphoria has surely made Demie popular, and it has piqued people’s interest in Demie’s boyfriend. Well, she is rumoured to be dating Christian Berishaj. He is better known by his stage name JMSN and is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Berishaj has reportedly been in a long-term relationship with Euphoria star Alexa Demie for at least 7 years.

Christian Berishaj and Alexa Demie have reportedly been in a relationship since 2017. The pair reportedly met when Demie appeared in the music video for JMSN's song, Slide. While working together, they reportedly formed a good bond and developed feelings for each other.
