Gaming Influencer, Alex Cimo's Wife Confirms His Death Amid Family Dispute Over Early Announcement

Popular gaming influencer, Alex Cimo, best known for his Yu-Gi-Oh content, had died at the age of 32. He had earned a loyal community through his gaming videos, strategy guides, deck profiles, and giveaways. Meanwhile, his wife, Bryttni Cimo, confirmed the heartbreaking news. Incidentally, the news comes a few days after an unexpected social media post about his death created family tensions. 

What was Alex Cimo's cause of death? 

According to Bryttni Cimo, Alex Cimo died suddenly on June 2, 2026, after a long battle with stage 4 colon cancer. The gaming influencer was open about his health battle and shared updates about his cancer journey through his social media handle. In fact, just a month before his death, Alex had shared an emotional update. He stated that he "refused to accept his fate" even after doctors initially told him that he had only a few days left to live. Initially, Alex had shared his medical history with ulcerative colitis. But in March 2025, he announced his cancer diagnosis. Meanwhile, Bryttni shared a brief statement online, revealing that she was still processing the major loss in her life.

In fact, she was not even prepared to speak publicly about it so soon after his death. Bryttni explained that she herself felt "very raw" from grief. It was the reason why she had originally planned to wait for a few weeks before making an announcement. Bryttni also stated that the delay was in line with Alex's wishes, as he wanted his family to have time to grieve privately before the news was shared publicly. However, those plans changed after his passing, as news of his passing appeared on the internet sooner than expected.

What caused the family dispute over Alex Cimo's death announcement?

The controversy started when Alex's mother, Mary-Frances Alonzo, shared a now-deleted LinkedIn post. In the post, she announced her son's death. She also shared an emotional message with it, where she described Alex as a talented and brilliant young man who fought stage 4 colon cancer with courage and strength. Mary also thanked the friends, supporters, and colleagues who offered prayers and encouragement throughout Alex's health battle. It quickly went viral online before it was removed. Soon afterward, Bryttni publicly expressed her frustration over the earlier announcement. She did not name her mother-in-law directly.

But, she shared that she was not updated that his death news had been shared without her consent. According to Bryttni, she was not informed that the LinkedIn post would be published. In turn, she was caught off-guard during one of the most difficult moments of her life. Meanwhile, the family's dispute has become a topic of discussion among his followers. But they have also offered support for both his mom and wife. Bryttni later thanked fans for their wishes and promised to share more details in a video. In Bryttni's words:
