In the era of legends like Sunil Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, and many more, it's never easy to make a name for yourself, but there was one actor, who had made a name for himself even after all the competition. The man is none other than, late legendary actor, Vinod Khanna, who could charm his way into anyone's heart. With his gorgeous personality and looks, Vinod Khanna had become a fantasy for his female fan following. His persona attracted people of all ages, and he had gone on to reign the film industry for almost four decades. However, on April 27, 2017, Vinod Khanna had passed away following a prolonged sickness. Now, on his 74th birth anniversary, we brought you a famous interview of his son, Akshaye Khanna in which he had talked about his father's decision of becoming a sanyasi. Scroll down to read it!

In an interview with the Mid-Day, Section 375 actor, Akshaye Khanna had talked about his late father, Vinod Khanna's life-changing decision of taking Sanyaas and leaving his family. The actor had revealed that when his father had taken that decision, he was only a five-year-old kid, who couldn't understand what this is all about. He had said, "To not only leave his family but to take 'sanyaas' (renunciation). Sanyaas means giving up your life in totality — family is [only] a part of it. It's a life-changing decision, which he felt that he needed to take at the time. As a five-year-old, it was impossible [for me] to understand it. I can understand it now."

Talking about what had influenced his father so much about that path, the doting son, Akshaye Khanna had said, "In the sense that something must have moved him so deep inside, that he felt that that kind of decision was worth it for him. Especially when you have everything in life. And when life doesn't look as though there's much more that you can have." Vinod Khanna's spiritual change

Going further in his interview, Akshaye had also revealed when his father had decided to come back to his family. He had retorted, "A very basic fault-line/ earthquake has to occur within oneself to make that decision. But also stick by it. One can make the decision and say this doesn't suit me — let's go back. It was just the fact that the commune was disbanded, destroyed, and everybody had to find their way. That's when he came back."

Vinod Khanna's spiritual change

In the end, Akshaye had also revealed that he holds no anger or ill-feelings for the spiritual leader, Osho. The actor had clearly stated that he doesn't understand those things and values, but that doesn't mean he hates them. He had explained, "Otherwise, I don't think he would've ever come back. I don't know if sanyaas is something that I could do. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy his discourses, respect his intellect, oratory skills, and his way of thinking.
