The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a halt to the wedding plans for many celebrities. While most of them are waiting for things to cool down soon, a lot of couples are tying the knot in the attendance of a handful of people. From Disha Parmar-Rahul Vaidya to Richa Chadha- Ali Fazal, most of the celebrities had to postpone their wedding due to COVID-19. The Pandya Store actor, Akshay Kharodia is one amongst the lot. Akshay Kharodia, who was supposed to get married to his long-time girlfriend of eight years, Divya Punetha on May 14, 2021, had to postpone his wedding due to the pandemic.

The actor while speaking to ETimes had shared that the wedding had to be postponed as he did not want to risk anyone's life amid the pandemic. He was pretty much excited about his wedding as he was going to get married after waiting for eight long years. All the tickets were booked and Divya had also bought her wedding lehenga, however, things had to be postponed.
However, it seems like there has been a change in plans now. In an interview with ETimes TV, Akshay Kharodia revealed that he is going to tie the knot with Divya Punetha on June 19, 2021, in an intimate ceremony with an attendance of 10 people. He said, "I feel it is a good time to get married now, the situation is better as compared to the last couple of months. We are going to have only 10 people at the wedding, 5 from my end and 5 from my girlfriend's side. I felt that there's no point in waiting because if the third wave is worse than the first to then we will just keep postponing everything."

Going further in the interview, Akshay revealed that it was his dream to marry Divya and spoke about his wedding plans. He said, "We are getting married on June 19, 2021, and I have taken leave for 7 days. My hometown is in Kota, Rajasthan and the baraat will go to Dehradun where my girlfriend lives. It was always a dream to get married to Divya and I am excited that it is finally coming true."
A few months ago, Akshay had taken to his IG handle to express his feelings for his lady love, with a video. He had written, "This one is for you my love words are too less to express what I feel for you..The day I saw you I knew you are the one.. We were kids n m blessed that how beautifully this young, selfless love has grown into an eternal bond..With you, the journey has been beautiful.. Ups n downs will be a part of our lives but my love for you will keep growing each day.. I cant wait to see you in your bridal lehenga..Tenu leke me jaawanga."
