Ajith Kumar is one of the biggest stars in the history of the Tamil film industry. The legendary actor made his acting debut back in 1990 with the film, En Veedu En Kanavar. Moving on to Ajith Kumar's personal life, he is married to former actress, Shalini, who has worked in a series of timeless films. She made her acting debut as a child artist in the film, Ente Mamattikkuttiyammakku in 1983. Despite having a brief career in the film industry and television, she became a household name across India. Some of her famous films include Aniyathipravu, Kaliyoonjal, Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, Amarkalam, Padayappa, and Kannukkul Nilavu.
For the uninitiated, Shalini is renowned by the nickname of 'Baby Shalini', courtesy of a character that she played at the beginning of her acting career. It was a character for which she styled her hair with a short bob and front fringe, instantly making her famous to the general public. Young girls started styling their hair in the same way as Shalini's character and it was when she got the title of 'Baby Shalini'.

Ajith Kumar and Shalini embraced parenthood for the first time on January 3, 2008. The couple welcomed a baby girl, whom they had lovingly named Anoushka. In the following years, Ajith and Shalini embraced parenthood a second time, as the latter gave birth to a baby boy on March 2, 2015. The couple chose the name Aadvik for their son. It was back in 2007 when Ajith Kumar shared an interesting anecdote about his love story and marriage with Shalini. The actor sat down in a conversation with popular comic actor, Santhanam, while promoting his then-upcoming film, Billa (2007). During their conversation, Ajith was asked about the beginning of his and Shalini's love story. In response to the same, Ajith revealed that he worked with Shalini for the first time in the film, Amarkalam (1999), and it was then they fell in love. Ajith further shared that it was a 'love at first sight' moment for him, as he was stunned by Shalini's beauty and grace.
Further in his revelation, Ajith Kumar revealed that he accidentally cut Shalini's wrist while they were filming a scene, but both of them were completely unaware of it. The actor further added that it was when blood started flowing down her veins that he realised that he had cut her wrist. The actress was admitted to the hospital immediately, and it was Ajith, who handled the situation with utmost care.

Ajith Kumar's concern and care melted Shalini's heart, and soon after this incident, they started dating. After being in a relationship for over a year, Ajith and Shalini were convinced to spend the rest of their lives together and took the plunge in 2000.
