However, in recent years, things seem to have changed between them, as rumours have it that there is a tiff between the once-childhood friends. And now, Khan has reacted to the same and revealed where they actually stand.

Shahid Kapoor and Ahmed Khan's friendship dates back to their childhood and continued well into their adulthood, with the latter even choreographing the actor for his debut screen outing. Yes! We are talking about Kapoor's iconic 90s pop song by the band Aryans, which featured him and Hrishitaa Bhatt and made Kapoor an instant heartthrob. The duo went on to collaborate on several projects well into the 2000s.
However, something changed between them around 2015, as reports began to circulate about issues between them. Now, years after the reports made headlines, Ahmed Khan has reacted to the rumours in a conversation with News18. For the unversed, the reports started making rounds when Khan couldn't attend Shahid Kapoor's wedding to Mira Rajput.
According to reports, Kapoor was so upset with him that he refused to speak to him at an award function. A few weeks later, Ahmed Khan went on to share that Shahid Kapoor didn't even visit him when he was bedridden due to vertigo attacks. Now, reflecting on what has kept them from working together as a producer-actor duo, Khan stated:
"I did Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra and his first film Ishq Vishk as a choreographer. Then I directed him in a film called Fool & Final. After that, I produced Paathshala in which he played a role. But in recent years, he's been following a certain template for the films he wants to do. I, on the other hand, am making a certain kind of film that I want to make."
In the same conversation, when asked whether there was hope for him and Shahid Kapoor to reunite on screen anytime soon, Ahmed Khan admitted that they will work together again when they are on the same page. He revealed that the kind of films they both want to make do not align so far. He was quoted as saying:
"We'll work together again when we come together (in terms of our sensibilities). We'll come together when we're on the same page about the kind of films that we want to do. I know that if I bring him a script at that time, he'll jump into it. But at this point, it's a fifty-fifty scenario."

In the same conversation, Ahmed Khan revealed that he and Shahid Kapoor don't catch up as often as they used to. He attributes that to the different paths their lives have taken. He admitted that their lifestyles have changed, which has further led them to grow apart. However, Khan has found his new confidants in his children and says he wouldn't have it any other way.
"You befriend so many new people that you forget who your real friends are. Our lifestyles have changed now. My sons are all grown up now. So, I've gained two friends in my life – Azaan and Subhaan. Azaan is 25, and Subhaan is 19. They come and talk to me about cinema and how films should be made today."
