Abraham Quintanilla Had Warned Daughter Selena About Yolanda Saldivar, Asked Her To Be Careful

Rising Tejano icon, Selena Quintanilla's life was cut short by the manager of her boutique and friend, Yolanda Saldivar. In a heartbreaking turn of events, the singer was k*lled by the person that she had trusted against all odds. However, Abraham Quintanilla, Selena's father, had seen the red flags in Yolanda's behaviour and warned the singer. As Abraham recently passed away at the age of 86, nearly 30 years after losing his daughter, here's a look at the circumstances surrounding Selena Quintanilla's death.

Yolanda Salvidar was appointed as the manager of Selena's boutique, became her close friend, and also served as the president of her fan club. However, grave mismanagement was reported in terms of how Yolanda behaved with the staff and handled the finances. Other workers of the boutique had complained to Selena, but she had reportedly waved them off. Since the singer did not consider their concerns, the workers approached Abraham. He took their complaints seriously and warned Selena to be careful of Yolanda. 

According to reports, Abraham told his daughter that Yolanda might be a bad influence, too. However, Selena did not heed his warnings, unfortunately. She trusted that her manager would not do anything to negatively impact her business. But within a year of Yolanda's appointment, many people around Selena found her problematic. 

Abraham Quintanilla had launched an investigation into Yolanda Saldivar, which led her to k*ll Selena Quintanilla

Abraham started an investigation into Yolanda and found that she was not only embezzling from Selena's boutique but also defrauding her fans. Selena's father had been receiving calls from her fans, claiming they had paid for membership in the fan club but had not received anything. From the investigation, it was found out that Yolanda had forged cheques to embezzle more than USD 30,000 from Selena's businesses and her fan clubs. 

Abraham confronted Yolanda and asked her to provide bank statements or face involvement from the authorities. It was over those bank statements that Yolanda killed Selena. The singer met her in a motel and asked her to give the bank papers. Yolanda, who was brandishing a gun, shot Selena. The singer passed away at the age of 23 from blood loss after being shot. 

Selena Quintanilla's father, Abraham Quintanilla, passed away at the age of 86

Nearly three decades after losing his daughter, Abraham Quintanilla Jr has passed away at the age of 86 on December 13, 2025, announced his son A.B. Quintanilla III. He is survived by his wife, Marcella, and their two older children, Suzette and A.B. There are no updates on the cause of death of Abraham; it is assumed that he passed away from age-related issues. However, many news outlets have reached out to the family. But the grieving Quintanilla family has asked for privacy during these tough times. Announcing his father's passing away, A.B. penned:

"It’s with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today…"
